Book Description:
In the thrilling conclusion of the Drake Chronicles, love and loyalties will be tested ... and proven once and for all.
Solange Drake has been officially crowned Queen of the Vampires, fulfilling the centuries old prophecy that foretold the rise to power of a daughter born to an ancient vampire line. Except Solange's thoughts and actions are no longer her own—she's been slowly being possessed by the spirit of Viola, the first daughter born into the Drake line, since her bloodchange. And instead of uniting the vampire tribes under the rule of an ancient daughter as the prophecy predicted, Viola would rather destroy them all and enslave humans in a personal vendetta for the devastation both wrought to her life centuries ago. Can Solange break her hold in time to save everyone she loves from a vampire civil war, hunter attack, and each other? Not everyone will survive the prophecy . . . perhaps not even her.

My Review:

I knew starting this book, the last book in the Drake Chronicles, was going to be a bittersweet journey. I have come to love the Drakes, Kieran, Lucy, Isabeau, Christa, Hunter and the gang. It is always hard when you become attached to a series to read the last book and know that after that last page, that is it. It is time to say goodbye.

So even though I really wanted to dive into this one to find out what happens, to see how it all ends, I did it with a heavy heart.

I really wanted to savor this one, to make it last but I just couldn't I had to find out how it all worked itself out. To know the fate of the Drakes and all their friends.

We get a lot of Lucy in this one which is so nice because really I could read this series just for her sarcastic humor and witty one liners alone, heck with the Drake boys. Okay maybe not, the Drake boys have some pretty great one liners too and don't forget the whole hot vampire thing they all have going on.

And of course we get a whole lot of Solange going on. I mean, really this is her story now. Well, her's and Viola's.

Viola and Tristan were a very hard couple to not feel sorry for. It was a total love/hate relationship I had going on with them. And in the end, well, I won't give anything away but it was sad and a little heartbreaking too. That two people would do so much for love and...well, you will just have to read it to know how it ends for them.

I am so glad that so many of my questions were answered about Constantine, about Viola and even about Madame Veronique. I was really hoping that there wouldn't be anything left undone as far as that was concerned and really there wasn't.

As while I am so sad that this series is over, I am so glad that Ms. Harvey ended it the way that she did, with a fierce battle, love always winning and family always there by your side when it really matters.

Most of all, I am ecstatic that while this was the last book in the series, it isn't over. We will get a novella or two somewhere down the road and I am really really hoping that she will give the rest of the Drake brothers their HEA as well.

Overall this was very well done and definitely bittersweet that it is over.

  1. Book Six!! *climbs out from under rock* This sounds fascinating and is totally new to me. I hate endings to series especially when I have come to love the characters. While I am sorry your journey with them is over, I am delighted you enjoyed the ride! Awesome review:)

  3. I'm scared for the series to be over! But kind of relieved just cause it's one more I don't need to keep up with. But I love these characters! I'm glad that it is pretty fantastic though and I look forward to reading the last two books.

  5. This is another series I have been curious about but these says when they are four to five books in, I know I won't get to them anytime soon which makes me sad. Still perhaps I will get to read a spinoff! Happy New Year, Ali!

  8. It's comforting to know that Lucy is very present in this one, I adore her! She's my book BFF, hah. There was some talk about a spin-off focused on Lucy, I don't know if Harvey will really go through with it, but I certainly hope so.
    Great review.
