Best Of 2020

A new year, a new decade and a whole new list of some of my favorite reads so far this year. And because a lot of these reads are from yearly 2020 and I've read them already (yay for ARCs!) I'm starting my list a bit early and will add on to it as the year goes.
I don't know about you guys but 2019 was full of some amazing reads and debuts and it makes me even more excited to see what this year will have in store for us!

I was so excited when I found out she was starting a new series. Jones is one of my most favorite authors and I couldn't wait. I was a little worried that this might be too much like her Charlie Davidson series and while I adore that series, we don't need a carbon copy of it. Thankfully, that is not what we got at all. This is new and fresh and still filled with that humor and hi jinks we all love from her other books. I really liked this one and can't wait for more.

I am completely in love with this quirky town and the even quirkier citizens and the books just keep getting better and better. I want them all, like now! Waiting is so hard to do with these. Thankfully Armstrong writes pretty quickly! If you haven't tried this series yet and love a good unusual mystery mixed in with an even more unusual town, this is the series for you.

It's been awhile since I have loved or even liked anything of Harris's but with her latest series and book, she has once again won me over. I love how fun and different this series is. Who doesn't love a sort of apocalyptic, magical world all set in the old world with a western rough and tough female gunslinger?

Unless Deanna Raybourn  does something seriously weird with this series, I think it will always be a favorite. I adore it and am always on edge waiting for the next one. It is just so much fun!

While maybe not a five star read for me, I just love the girl power in this book! The first one was great and I was super curious to see how she was going to continue this series and still make it fresh and fun and entertaining. Well, she did and I can't even explain it, it's just MORE. I had a lot of fun with this one and can't wait for book three!

I was excited to get my hands on this last book in what has been a very unique, very exciting trilogy by Kagawa and it did not disappoint. It was everything I was hoping it would be and then some. Truly emotional in all the right ways.

Another amazing installment in this series that still manages to surprise me and is still going strong. I truly hope we get many more.

If you're a nerd like me you love historical reads and this genre, even more so. This book was so full of all the emotions, both good and bad. I loved every heart wrenching chapter.

Another highly anticipated read for 2020 for me. I have loved this series from the very beginning and while I'm still unsure of whether this is the last book or not, I'm truly hoping with a somewhat open ending, it won't be because I love all these characters and would love more! There is still so much that could happen and transpire and I want to be there for it all. Estep never disappoints and this is just another shinning example of that.

I love a story that makes me think and definitely one that messes with me a little bit and this story did both. Truly a page turner that had me constantly going back and forth on what I knew to be true and what I didn't.

This author always knows how to mess with my head and their latest left me reeling in such a good way. And while it maybe wasn't quite a five star read, it is still one worth mentioning and still one I thoroughly enjoyed.

This author never lets me down and her newest is no exception. I love how much I connect with all her characters and feel like I've been transported into time and the wonderful places she describes. Truly another amazing read!

This author never disappoints in delivering a good chilling story full of all things ghosts and their latest reminded me all over again why I love this series so much. A must read and usually you can grab the first book for free on Amazon!

I picked up this series on a whim because I just adore this genre and it hasn't disappointed me yet. It is so much fun and I love that it involves the lower class of society instead of focusing on the upper like most do in this genre. It's fun, adventurous and has a great cast of characters and always a fun mystery.

This book! I don't even know where to start with it. It's based on a true story about a black widow and I just ate it up. It was unbelievable good and I can't recommend it enough!

Cecy never fails to amaze me with her writing talent and this series (and the original) are still going strong and are still favorites for a very good reason!

Karen White is a master at what she does and her stories always stick with me long after they are over. Her characters are so real and so hard to forget.

I adore Jennifer Lynn Barnes's stories and for really good reasons. She never lets me down with the mysteries she creates and the fun stories unlike anything out there. Her latest was amazing and I can't wait for more.

This was the author's first foray into this genre and definitely shouldn't be her last. This book was amazing and I still find myself thinking about it weeks after finishing it.

I don't read a ton in this genre anymore but once in awhile I come across an author that I've loved in the past that has released something new and I take a chance. This chance paid off. This was the perfect read for the Halloween season!

Most of us need new series like we need holes in our heads but, when does something silly like that every stop us from trying something new? For me? Never.
I'm so glad too because otherwise I would not have discovered some new to me authors and series I now absolutely adore!

Here are just a few of them below that I haven't discovered so far this year and have been reading through like crazy. I have all kinds of genres here too so don't be shy and try one! I don't think you will be disappointed! Disclaimer, some of these are not the first book in the series since I actually started some of them in December last year so you might have to look up the first book. ;)

There is a new genre out there of fantasy with heroines all in their 40's or over and so far I'm absolutely loving it! Here are some that I've tried that I have adored and can't wait for the next book to come out:
