I am so excited to be able to participate in the Fear The Reaper Read-Along featuring Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson series.
This is such a fantastic series, in fact I think it might be my new all time favorite Adult Urban Fantasy series. I have never participated in a read-along so I am a little nervous but also very excited to be a part of it!
This week we are discussing chapters 1-5 in the first book in the series, First Grave on the Right.
Here are this weeks questions hosted by Christy's Love of Books!
1. We meet some of Charley's ghostly "buddies," do you believe you have ever had a ghostly encounter?
2. Charley named her jeep Misery. Have you ever named your vehicles? What did you name them?
3. Charley says her name "...brooks no opposition. It takes shit from no one." What do you think your name says about you to strangers? Is there a different name that you think would suit you better?
4. Charley says her best friend Cookie is "like Kramer from Seinfeld, only not so nervous, like Kramer might have been on Prozac." Give us your best description of your best friend. How would they would describe you?
5. Garrett is reluctant to believe in Charley's abilities, how would you react if a friend divulged to you that they can see and speak with the dead?

Such great questions!
Okay here are my answers!
1. Hmm, actually I am going to have to say no. I don't think I have and frankly, that is a good thing. Anyone who knows me knows I am a pretty big chicken so I don't think I would be able to handle any ghostly visitors of any kind, loved ones or not.
I do love reading about them though and do enjoy a good ghost story. I like to think that our loved ones are up there somewhere looking down on us and watching over us but you know, in a non stalker kind of way. :P
2. Nope. I am never creative with naming inanimate objects so I don't usually try it. I know, I am pretty boring but I love it when others name things, I think its cute.
3. Well my name is Ali. Just Ali. Not Alison or Alice or anything else and I get asked that a lot. It use to bother me when I was younger, always having to explain to people that my name isn't short for anything else but now, well, now I like how unique it is. Very few people are actually just named Ali.
Usually it is a nickname so I think it suits me and I can't imagine being called anything else. I never was one of those girls that wanted a different name.
4. My best friend is the strong silent type. Actually my best friend is my husband and I think he is perfect, maybe not perfect in the sense that he never does anything wrong but he is perfect in the sense that he is perfect for me. I couldn't ask for a better best friend and companion.
As for how he would describe me? Well, I guess you will just have to ask him yourself because I have no idea! :P I am shy and pretty soft spoken so I am sure he would say that somewhere in the description of me.
5. I choose my friends pretty carefully and I would never befriend someone I couldn't or didn't trust so I would like to think that if one of my friends came to me with something like that, I would be pretty open minded about it. I think there are a lot of things out there in the universe that we still know nothing about so who am I too judge or say what is or isn't possible?
Check back next Thursday for more questions as we discuss the next chapters in First Grave on the Right!
I usually don't objects either but that does not stop me from talking to them, especially my laptop.
ReplyDeleteI was always one of those girls who wanted to change her name, until I actually did, now I love my name.
I talk to objects too Veronica, all the time, maybe more than I should LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh I love that you and the hubs are besties. I want that! :)
ReplyDeleteBtw, I have a cousin who is named Ali. You aren't alone! ;) And no, it's not short for anything either...
I am too Heidi!
ReplyDeleteAww, you will someday Melissa!!
And that is awesome that your cousin's name is just Ali too!
Yeah, I really hope the dearly departed aren't stalking from beyond. lol.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool about your name. I like Ali anyway! :)
Ali. That's cool & unique. No one ever mistook Amy for short for anything. Your parents must be peppy.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is my best friend too. But don't ask him to describe me. Oh you can today, because I cleaned house & put on makeup. Like I said "I married well, but he didn't." ;D
I usually name stuff after book characters or movies that made an impression on me.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way Rummanah if I do name things, my kindle for instance is named Austen after Jane Austen but I still just call it my kindle lol.
ReplyDeleteI name everything lol and awww what a nice and sweet thing to say about your husband! Ali is a great name! Short and sweet. I've always wanted a short name.
