Book Description:

When it comes to passion this hot, it’s all or nothing.

Olivia Townsend’s wealthy cousin Marissa had everything a girl could ask for—a great job, a privileged life, and all the friends she wanted. Or, at least, all the friends money could buy. But one case of mistaken identity has turned her privileged world upside down.

An abduction gone wrong lands her right in the lap of the sexiest, most dangerous man she’s ever met. To Marissa, he’s an enigma, but one to whom she’s irresistibly, inexplicably drawn.

With him comes a new world of freedom and passion, of dark shadows and dangerous secrets, a world where nothing is what it seems—except for the blind passion that Marissa can’t escape—or maybe even survive.

About the Author:
I was born and raised in the United States, and I’ve lived in several of the fabulous fifty. Though I currently live in the deep South, I spent much of my childhood up North and hope to return there one day. A few other things about me: I believe that sometimes you have to look really, REALLY hard to find the good in people, but it's there. I believe that I'm shrinking (I swear five years ago I was two inches taller). I believe my husband is quite possibly one of the most amazing men in the entire world (I can't be sure because I haven't met all of them). I believe coffee and chocolate, when combined, could be the basis for world peace. I believe that Jesus rocks and communism doesn’t. I believe that white makes me look fat and black collects lint. I believe summer's too hot, winter's too cold and fall was made for football. I like dogs better than cats and the first movie in a trilogy is invariably the best. But most of all, I believe that love conquers all.

Guest Post:

The Five Mandatory Traits of a Bad Boy
1. Sex appeal- a bad boy without sex appeal is just a mean guy with an attitude.
2. A way with words- a bad boy can turn a girl inside out with just a few well-chosen words. And I love that about them!
3. Scars- scars on a bad boy can be the physical kind or the kind we only see when we get to know them a little better. Either way, bad boys have them. Usually more than one. Scars are what make them the way they are.
4. Hot blood- whether it’s for one girl or women in general, all bad boys have hot blood and a big appetite.
5. An Achilles heel- all bad boys have a soft spot. Finding it can be the search of a lifetime, but it’s there. And it makes them that much more appealing.

My Thoughts and Review:

To say I love this series is, well, not nearly enough to describe how I feel about it. I just adore it. Olivia, Nash, Cash, Marissa (okay, maybe I didn't love her before, but I do now), and Gavin, they are pretty terrific.

Leighton has managed to lure me into the world and characters she created like the temptress I am starting to think she is, without any hope of escape, not that I want to escape because truly, I love the world and the characters and I feel like they are a part of me, like they are family, only better because I can visit them anytime and always on my terms.

And as much as I love Cash and Olivia I couldn't wait to dive into a story all about Nash. I wanted to know everything about him and I wasn't the slightest bit concerned that Leighton wouldn't come through for me and give me exactly what I wanted. And, as it turns out I was right, she did give me just what I wanted and them some. To look into that dark abyss known as Nash was..well some of it was heartbreaking of course and there was a lot of anger. Lots and lots of anger. But there was goodness too and that is what I held on to. What I hoped I would see more of. After all, past or no past, any brother of Cash's had to be just as wonderful deep down inside.

Marissa was the only one I was nervous about because, let's be honest here, she hasn't exactly won any awards in the past books for her kindness or winning personality but I knew if anyone could pull off making the bad guy good and loveable, it was Leighton.

So I dove in expecting to be wowed and awed and to have my feelings about Marissa do a complete 360 and you know what? They did and I was wowed. I shouldn't have expected anything less.

To be honest Nash sort of....scared me. Sounds strange I know but the boy is so darn anger. All. The. Time. He feeds off that anger. I think in some strange way, it is how he survived all that he went through and oh boy did the poor guy go through a lot. It isn't a wonder that he is so filled with rage all the time. It was so sad to read about, to picture and to imagine. I was starting to wonder if he was too damaged, to broke to be saved.

Like all of Leighton's books there were some pretty steamy moments and if I am being honest, some were a little too much for me (hello New Orleans scene!). But also like all of Leighton's books, the romance and tender moments between Nash and Marissa were worth everything.

This story truly was a great one. One that wowed me, made me aww, made me smile, made me tear up and one that will live in my heart forever.

  1. I have to admit that I read only first book of this series and I didn't like it very much. I picked it up because of her novel Wild Ones - that one was amazing.

  3. It's amazing that Leighton is able to make you care so much for a character who is so angry and even a bit scary. I feel like it's quite a feat to pull off! I can't believe I haven't read these yet! They sound wonderful. Lovely review :-)

  7. Awesome review. I loved this to. I felt like Nash was kind of scary to, but it worked for him. I thought did a great job of letting us love Marissa in this book to. I can't wait for Gavin's book.
