Something Wicked With Author Cecy Robson!

Many of you probably already know that Cecy Robson's Weird Girls series is one of my absolute favorite UF series out there. It has everything I love in a good solid read, humor, mystery, romance, and some seriously kick a$$ characters.

Series: Book Four in the Weird Girls Series
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Published By: Loveswept (November 18, 2014)

Book Description:
The Weird Girls return in another edge-of-your-seat novel from Cecy Robson! Just when Celia thinks the supernatural world can’t turn deadlier, a new rival emerges, proving just how dangerous a power-hungry were can be.

Since being cursed with unique abilities, Celia Wird and her three sisters have fought the most bloodthirsty preternaturals in the Lake Tahoe region. But Celia’s greatest threat is someone she would have never suspected: Anara, a werewolf Elder who has allowed his hatred for Celia to spiral out of control. In a play for dominance, Anara tortures Celia and gives her an ultimatum: sever her mate bond with pureblood were Aric—or Anara will kill everyone she loves.

From the instant they met, Celia and Aric have shared an attraction that cannot be tamed. So keeping Aric away is impossible, and Aric would sooner die than allow anyone to hurt the woman he loves. Misha, master vampire and Celia’s sworn protector, also finds his way into the chaos, seeking blood from those who have harmed her.

Now Celia and her sisters are caught in the middle of a war driven by lust, fueled by hatred, and destined to end in tragedy. For Anara is a force to be reckoned with, and he will not succumb without robbing Celia of those who hold her heart.

About the Author:

CECY (pronounced Sessy) ROBSON is the Penguin Random House New Adult author of Once Perfect, Once Loved, and Once Pure, and the award-winning author of the Weird Girls Urban Fantasy Romance series. A self-proclaimed professional napper, Cecy counts among her talents a jaw-dropping knowledge of useless trivia, the ability to make her hair big, and a knack for breaking into song despite her family's vehement protests. A writer, registered nurse, and mother living in the South, Cecy enjoys spending time with her family and silencing the yappy characters in her head by telling their stories.

So who are the scariest villains of all time? Since I’m a writer, my immediate thoughts go to Harry Potter’s Voldemort or Bram Stoker’s Dracula. But when I stop to think about it―really think about it―I have to say it’s those characters who aren’t necessarily part of a fantastical world, but who could actually exist in our reality.

In Stephen King’s Misery we have Annie Wilkes, portrayed by Kathy Bates in the movie. On the surface, Annie appears to be a kind person when in all actuality she is a deeply disturbed individual capable of tormenting the very person she’s supposed to care for. Her character isn’t so outrageous that readers couldn’t imagine someone like her in our modern world.

In To Kill a Mockingbird, Bob Ewell, who is ultimately killed by Boo Radley, makes the perfect villain. He is so blind by rage and his need for vengeance, that he doesn’t care who he hurts, even if it’s the innocent children. Turn on the news sometime. Men (and women) like him exist all around us.

When it comes to my Urban Fantasy Romance series, the Weird Girls, I’ve introduced countless villains―from demons, to power-hungry vampires, and yes, witches, too. But the villain who has

upset me most is Anara, a were Elder and Celia Wird’s greatest threat in A CURSED BLOODLINE.

When you strip away Anara’s power, magic, and strength, you have a high ranking official with one goal: to keep his race pure at a all costs. Sounds scary, right? History has proven people like Anara exist. They inflict damage, can split continents, and rob us of those we love.

So when I think of scary villains, it’ not necessarily the scary monsters from fiction who I immediately think of―although they frighten do me―it’s those real-life monsters who live among us.

  1. Definitely agree that I usually think of baddies like Voldemort, but it's the villains that could easily exist/ do exist in this world that really scare me. Great guest post :)

    1. I agree as well! The truly terrifying ones for me in books and movies are those that really could be true.

  5. Anara does seem like Hitler.. bastard! I wanted to skin him alive in the last book, make a throw out of his pelt.

I like the "entity" villains like The House in both The Fall & Amityville or cursed objects from different stories. Like it messes up with your head so they attack you on all angles and as they have no observable tell, you don't know when they'll strike and what they'll do.

  6. GREAT post, and I completely agree. It's the real life monsters that are the scariest. That one of the main reasons I prefer books with paranormal elements. Things that don't exist are FAR less scary than things that you hear about on the news.

  9. So true, there are plenty of real life monsters who are harming people because they believe they are doing the right thing, and then there are those who are just monstrous like the leader of North Korea.

  10. Agreed. It goes along with how situations that could actually happen creep me out more than zombies and vampires. Like that movie Hostel ... ugh ... makes me not want to travel. lol.
