Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It is a chance to share those new releases were are super anxious to get our hands on and read.
There is absolutely no way I'm missing out on a new Mead read (Ha! I'm a poet and didn't even know it!).
I loved both her Georgina Kincaid series and her Vampire Academy series so, once again, a no brainer for me. And isn't the cover pretty?
Book Description:
From Richelle Mead, the #1 internationally bestselling author of Vampire Academy and Bloodlines, comes a breathtaking new fantasy steeped in Chinese folklore.
For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.
When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence is plunged into crisis, under threat of darkness and starvation.
But soon Fei is awoken in the night by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon.
Richelle Mead takes readers on a triumphant journey from the peak of Fei’s jagged mountain village to the valley of Beiugo, where a startling truth and an unlikely romance will change her life forever...

I love how this is a culturally diverse book! I haven't read any Richelle Mead book and I don't think I'll ever pick up her Vampire Academy series, but I'm definitely adding this one to my TBR! Great pick, Ali!
ReplyDeleteI love that about it as well! Thanks!
DeleteSuper pretty cover! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty cover. ;)
DeleteI read 3/6 books in the Georgina Kincaid series (the first 2 and then I skipped to the last one for some reason I cannot remember.) I DID adore her Vampire Academy series though and am SO excited about reading Soundless. Hopefully, we'll both love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping so too!
DeleteYes, Ali! I can't wait to read Soundless. It sounds amazing and anything with Richelle Mead's name is enough to get me to pick up the book.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick!
I couldn't agree more!
DeleteI can't wait for this one, too! Great pick, Ali!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy!
DeleteYESSSSSSSSSSSSS! I need this in my life Ali! Like you, I've adored everything I've read of hers:)
ReplyDeleteYay! We need to get our hands on an ARC! ;)
DeleteHello potential! It's very true that Asian, African & Eastern-European folklore are so very rarely explored in YA fiction. About time someone thought to go there! Great choice <3
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more Ramona. I'm, so exited to see what she does with it!
DeleteOh, a new Richelle Mead series! Can you believe I haven't read anything by her yet. I know, shocking! This sounds great. Love the cover too! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is shocking! :P

Ali, I love the sound of this one. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteIt really is!
DeleteYES! This sounds awesome with its "breathtaking new fantasy steeped in Chinese folklore." This is my chance to catch Mead finally with a new series. I hope you grab it up soon, Ali :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you hadn't tried her Kim, I hope this is a great place to start but if I know her writing at all, then I'm guessing it will be. ;)
DeleteI want to give this a try. I'm willing to set aside my YA prejudices for this lol
ReplyDeleteLOL, yay! I hope you like it, that we both do!

DeleteI have never read this author although I did see the Vampire Academy movie. I am not much for Asian based books because I seem to not have really good luck with them. I hope you love it and I will look forward to your review :)
ReplyDeleteUgh, the movie was awful, the books were so much better! I do hope this turns out to be fantastic. :D
DeleteOooh this seems different.
