Book Description:
New secrets, old flames, and hidden agendas are about to send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most outrageous adventure yet!
MISTAKE #1
Dickie Orr. Stephanie was married to him for about fifteen minutes before she caught him cheating on her with her arch-nemesis Joyce Barnhardt. Another fifteen minutes after that Stephanie filed for divorce, hoping to never see either one of them again.
MISTAKE #2
Doing favors for super bounty hunter Carlos Manoso (a.k.a. Ranger). Ranger needs her to meet with Dickie and find out if he's doing something shady. Turns out, he is. Turns out, he's also back to doing Joyce Barnhardt. And it turns out Ranger's favors always come with a price...
MISTAKE #3
Going completely nutso while doing the favor for Ranger, and trying to apply bodily injury to Dickie in front of the entire office. Now Dickie has disappeared and Stephanie is the natural suspect in his disappearance. Is Dickie dead? Can he be found? And can Stephanie Plum stay one step ahead in this new, dangerous game? Joe Morelli, the hottest cop in Trenton, NJ is also keeping Stephanie on her toes-and he may know more than he's saying about many things in Stephanie's life. It's a cat-and-mouse game for Stephanie Plum, where the ultimate prize might be her life.
With Janet Evanovich's flair for hilarious situations, breathtaking action, and unforgettable characters, LEAN MEAN THIRTEEN shows why no one can beat Evanovich for blockbuster entertainment.
It truly is hard not to fall in love with this series. It is so outrageous so chaotic, and so much darn fun.
With a cast of crazy laugh out loud lovable characters and danger and mayhem lurking around every corner, this series is my go to series when I need out of a book funk or just plain and simply need a good hearty laugh.
Stephanie has a way of getting herself into trouble regardless of the situation and why it is ridiculous, it also can't help being hilarious at the same time. And the best part is, she has a crazy cast of friends to help her through it all not to mention two hunky guys vying for her attention.
And while most books with a love triangle drive me crazy, this one some how seems to work for me and manages to add something to the series that probably wouldn't be the same without it.
Laughs, danger, great friends and co workers, and a mystery that is always fun, this is a series that anyone that loves to laugh and still get some depth, will enjoy.
I read the first few books in this series, but never bothered to continue. It's too long for me to catch up on though now. That's really great that the book is still fun, mysterious and hilarious.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, Ali!
I hear ya, it's hard to catch up sometimes with series that are so far number wise.
DeleteOh man I loved this series for so long. I think I made it to 20 before I finally gave up. They are a lot of fun though!!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that from a lot of people. I guess I will try to at least read until then. :)
DeleteThis is one of those humongous series, isn't it? It's like JD Robb's In Death series - there's no hope of me ever catching up. Sigh. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the books, Ali!
ReplyDeleteYes mostly humor. They definitely have to be taken lightly in a way even with the mystery aspect.
DeleteIt is outrageous and sometimes too much so. Its why I stopped reading it after 18 or 19, hmmm maybe its time to pick them up again. I bet they'd be a hoot on audible. Thanks for the great review Kindlemom on your rare escape from YA reads ;-) xo
ReplyDeleteLOL I do read a lot of them don't I? I'm trying to fix that!
DeleteThis is a true throwback for Thursday. I love that you're giving a shout out to a older book. :) This is a really fun series.
ReplyDeleteThank Tyler, it really is and one that I can always count on for a laugh if nothing else. ;)
DeleteI binge read this series up to I think 15 and then I had to wait for the next one and now I've fallen behind! I agree this series is totally outrageous and chaotic, but it also makes me happy. I wouldn't mind if Ranger had a bigger role in all the books and ended up being the romantic winner, but I don't think that will be the case. Still, such fun books!
ReplyDeleteYes Jenny, I couldn't agree more! I would love to see that happen as well.
DeleteI read a handful of these books back in high school. (I think I got to the fourth, maybe?) Then mom let a friend of her borrow, like, my whole series and I never saw them again. >.>
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, I kinda fell away from the series, seeing as I didn't have my copies. I remember them being a lot of fun, though! The humor and mystery aspect of the books are just so perfectly balanced. And I STILL can't decide between Morelli or Ranger. XD
Brittany @ Space Between the Spines
I know, I still can't as well, I love them both.
DeleteThis looks interesting but I am not so much fan to humor series.

That's okay, they aren't for everyone. ;)
DeleteI really like fun and amusing novels. I haven't read any of these, but maybe I should!
ReplyDeleteThey are a lot of fun, especially if you want some funny moments in with the serious.
DeleteI stopped somewhere around book 7 ages ago, I think, but I really need to fix that! I remember this being hilarious, and I just loved Janet's other series. I'm glad you're still enjoying these.
ReplyDeleteI really need to try her other series, I've seen some great things about them as well.
DeleteThis is a good series, I used to read this series but stopped for some reason I really need to start again. Great review!
ReplyDeleteIt is a fun one and I read them here and there but definitely always good when I need a laugh and break from more serious ones.
DeleteGreat review! I think I am like 3 or 4 books behind in this series but maybe I should binge them all although this series really is SO long!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a long one. It will probably take me forever to catch up since I only read them here and there.
DeleteOoh I love laughing :D Lol. I've seen the movie for the first book in this series and really liked it, but I've been told it's not exactly the same. Still, I'm really interested in it :)
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't but it was close. I wish they would make more movies, I thought it was fun too.
DeleteOkay, this one doesn't sound familiar, so I must've stopped with 11 or 12. Damn, how long is the love-triangle go on? It never really bothered me either, though.
ReplyDeleteI heard it goes into the 20's! So awhile. ;)
DeleteI read maybe eighteen of these and then they got stale for me. Used to get them in hardback, that's his much I loved them. Glad these are still good for you and actually I was still loving them at this point in the series.
ReplyDeleteI really hope I keep liking them, they are a fun escape read.
DeleteI love this series! I stopped at 15 or 16, but I need to go back and reread them and read the rest! I'm so glad you liked this one. These books are hilarious!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you still liked it after that many though, that is promising!
DeleteIt's really a fun series but let me tell you it gets tired really quickly. Not to burst your bubble or anything I just have to be honest--says the girl with the next book on her TBR. I think I'm dedicated to the thing already. I can't seem to walk away.
ReplyDeleteLOL I do feel that way about it, which is why I only read it in really small doses. ;)
DeleteI seriously need to try this author/series. I bet these would a hoot on audio!
ReplyDeleteI bet you would like them, love triangle and all. It's hard not to like Stephanie and she reminds me a bit or Charley. ;)
DeleteI haven't gotten close to being this far into the series, but I will one day.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you still like them when you are. ;)
DeleteI've yet to try Stephanie Plum series. I know the later books are narrated by Lorelei King, who I love. If I try them, it would have to be on audio. Do you have to read in order, or could I pick up where King starts reading?
ReplyDeleteMelanie @ Hot Listens & Rabid Reads
I definitely think you need to read in order because of the relationships that develop over the course of the series.
DeleteIt's been years since I've read a Stephanie Plum book! I think I dropped the series around book 9 when I saw the love triangle starting up. I might have the series a re-read and maybe try reading past the 9th book.
ReplyDeleteThere is the love triangle but it isn't bad honestly, at least I don't think it is.
DeleteI stopped a couple books into this series but I always wanted to get back into it. Happy this was a good one.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you do and like them. ;)
DeleteAhhh yeah that was a good one. I love when things go crazy. lol Glad you're still enjoying them! (and I apologize for my forthcoming comment bombing)
ReplyDeleteNO worries about the commenting. ;) And yeah, I hope this series continues to be fun.
