Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It is a chance to share those new releases were are super anxious to get our hands on and read.
This isn't my typical pick because I think it might be middle grade or if not, then a young YA, either way, it still looks so good I just want to read it.
I read this author's first book in her False Prince series and really liked it so I'm hoping the writing style will be very similar.
Book Description:
As a lethal plague sweeps through the land, Ani Mells is shocked when she is unexpectedly captured by the governor's wardens and forced to submit to a test for the deadly Scourge. She is even more surprised when the test results come back positive, and she is sent to Attic Island, a former prison turned refuge -- and quarantine colony -- for the ill. The Scourge's victims, Ani now among them, can only expect to live out short, painful lives there. However, Ani quickly discovers that she doesn't know the whole truth about the Scourge or the Colony. She's been caught in a devious plot, and, with the help of her best friend, Weevil, Ani means to uncover just what is actually going on.
But will she and Weevil survive long enough to do so?

Nice review, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow Kindlemom this is for middle graders a little more intense than when I was that age. Of course Dinosaurs still walked the earth then LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yeah some of them definitely are.
Deleteintriguing cover there!
ReplyDeleteI like it. ;)
DeleteI like the cover for it. Probably a little too young for me but never know. I have enjoyed some of the early young adults I've tried along the way :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it will read more like a YA, I mean the Percy Jackson series and the H.P. series are technically MG so you never know.
DeleteWow! I adore that cover. I haven't read anything by the author, but I need to change that soon!
ReplyDeleteLovely pick, Ali!
Thanks Nick. She is a fun author.
DeleteThe cover's really intriguing. I can see why you would want to read it.
ReplyDeleteSimply Angela
It did draw me in. ;)
DeleteThe cover looks MG, but I feel like just as there is YA that reads young, I'm sure there's MG that reads a bit older, so this is definitely something I'd try Ali! Hopefully it's as strong for you as her YA stuff:)
ReplyDeleteI'm really hoping so too Jenny.
DeleteI also liked the False Prince too, but didn't go beyond to finish the series. This one also looks promising. Hope you like it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet either but I will, eventually. :P
DeleteThis looks very promising, and that cover is pretty. Hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, me too!
DeleteI loved the first book in Nielson's series, The False Prince, so I'll have to pick this up when it comes out!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that, I hope we both like this then. ;)
DeleteThis is new to me..and you have me curious!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could pique your interest with this one. ;)
DeleteOh this sounds so good! Great pick
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my WoW
Thanks and of course!
DeleteI haven't heard of this one. It really does look MG, but it does look good. I'm not the biggest MG fan, but there are a few I like a lot. I'll have to add this one to my to read list! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm not either but once in awhile there is a great one.
DeleteI like plague/quarantine premises a bunch, so this really resonates with me. Thanks, Ali!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear the Tyler. I hope if you do decide to try it (and me too!) that we both like it.
DeleteI really like the cover, this isn't usually my genre but it sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteIt really does and I'm hoping it reads like YA.
DeleteOh nice. Sounds interesting! Hope you get it.
ReplyDeleteThis is new to me and it sounds like something I just might devour - and I would be curious even if its MG as there a fun escape for me right now.
ReplyDeleteHope you grab it up, Ali :)
They can be a fun escape for sure. ;)
DeleteOhhhhh she is great! I didn't realize she was coming out with something new, but she's always a delight :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like her already!! Hopefully this is a good one as well but I have a feeling it will be. ;)
DeleteOoooh I like the sound of this. I want to see your review for this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jazmen, hopefully I can snag a copy. ;)
DeleteMiddle grade? Plagues and being scared for your life? Well I always did read above my grade level! Kinda scary for some of the less mature though. I hope it's a good one for you!
ReplyDeleteLOL, yeah it seems more YA than MG but you never know.
DeleteThis is new to me, as is the author. I hope you enjoy reading this Ali.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by My WoW earlier.
Thanks Sandra!
DeleteOoh I have an ARC of this one!! But I haven't read The False Prince. Hopefully, it's good for the both of us!!
ReplyDeleteYou do? Lucky! Can't wait to see what you think about it.
DeleteYeah I was really surprised when the publisher from Scholastic Press replied to my e-mail and told me they would send me books. They sent me 5 books, including this one :D
DeleteThat is awesome!!
DeleteIt does look like an MG novel, but it sounds interesting! Hope you get a chance to read it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, me too. :D
DeleteI hadn't heard of this one! It does look pretty great though. I might have to give it a shot once it comes out.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that, it really does sound interesting regardless of whether it is YA or MG. ;)
DeleteI was shocked it is MG, but heck that just means MG and up. You have me curious Ali.
ReplyDeleteThat is true and a great way to look at it.
DeleteOoo, I haven’t heard of this one, but both the cover and the synopsis sound great! Adding this to my TBR now!! Great pick :D
ReplyDeleteThank you!
