Goodreads Description:
For as long as Esmerine can remember, she has longed to join her older sister, Dosinia, as a siren--the highest calling a mermaid can have. When Dosinia runs away to the mainland, Esmerine is sent to retrieve her. Using magic to transform her tail into legs, she makes her way unsteadily to the capital city. There she comes upon a friend she hasn't seen since childhood--a dashing young man named Alandare, who belongs to a winged race of people. As Esmerine and Alandare band together to search for Dosinia, they rekindle a friendship . . . and ignite the emotions for a love so great, it cannot be bound by sea, land, or air.
My Review:
Between the Sea and Sky has such a wonderful cover that I knew I had to read it and although I haven't read many mermaid books the synopsis combined with the beautiful cover drew me in and demanded that I give it a try.
I was excited when I got approved to receive an ARC copy of this book and although I had a few others that I really needed to read first I went ahead and decided I would start this one.
This is the first book by Dolamore I have read and her writing is just beautiful.
This whole book read like a fairy tale. It reminded me so much of the stories I use to love to have read to me as a little girl that I got completely wrapped up in the world that Dolamore created.
I love the idea of a "fish" and "bird" falling in love.
And while I didn't feel any real connection with the main characters Alan and Esmerine, I did really enjoy the uniqueness of the story.
It was cute and fun and just something different and nice to read.
I really enjoyed Dolamore's writing style so I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future.
I think anyone that loved fairy tales as a child will really enjoy reading this cute love story as well.
