So I'm A Double Threat by Julie Prestsater Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway!!

I am so excited to be a part of the So I'm a Double Threat Blog Tour and to introduce you to the Double Threat Series by Julie Prestsater. Not only do I get to review this great book but you also get a chance to enter to win her book (paperback copies and ebook copies are both available) and even a chance to win the whole series.

How awesome is that?

But before I share my thoughts about her book, lets learn a little bit about the author of this cute series, Julie Prestsater.

I'm a mom, a wife, a teacher, a reader, and a writer. I'm also an lunatic when it comes to the NFL and playing Fantasy football, especially if I don't get my first pick quarterback: Tony Romo. When I'm not at home or work, you can probably catch me on the 15 freeway singing my heart out and dancing away in my car.

Synopsis:
Megan Miller, a freshman at Carver High and a Double Threat, the perfect combination of smart and popular. She's got the grades, she's got the friends, and she's got the connections. Freshman year should be a breeze, but it's not. How can it be when you have boys, boys and boys on the brain. And really only one in particular. Alex Aguilar...the boy of Meg's dreams. They met at a party and Meg's whole world shifted. The spark was there, there was no denying it. But could that spark lead to more? Can a Senior and Freshman really make a go of it no matter what kind of connection they share? Or will outside circumstances ruin not only Meg's Freshman year, but her chance at hooking the guy of her dreams. Being a Double Threat is supposed to make you special, but is it worth it if you don't get your crush?

My Thoughts:

I am going to be brutally honest here and say that I didn't like this book at first, in fact I wasn't sure I even liked any of the characters. The main protagonist Megan was somewhat whinny and judgmental and well, really immature.

In fact all of her friends were and I found myself struggling to get through the book.

And then about 30% in something happened. I can't even say what for sure but I found myself getting more and more drawn into the story and the life of all these girls.

I think I realized that while they were judgmental and immature and yes, even whinny that I was starting to like them. Maybe not relate to them but like them and even care about them. And I think too, I realized that they were acting exactly like 14 year old high school girls were suppose to act like, selfish, immature, clueless, girls who didn't have it all figured out and were just trying to find their place in the world of high school and all that that entailed.

The further I got into Megan, Steph, Amy, Keesha, Ben, Eric and Alex's story, the more I wanted. I couldn't wait to find out more and I found myself getting lost in the story and losing track of time.

I enjoyed the bound and friendship they shared. The drama, surprised, lies and heartache. I liked it all and when the story ended, I was a little sad. I didn't want that crazy ride to end.

I am so excited that not only is there a second book out, but a third book will be out later this fall too.

I want more of their story. I want to find out what happens next and who they end up with. I want to know about the choices they make, their friendships, their love life, yep, I think I just might be hooked on this series now.

Overall I give this book a very solid 4 Stars.

  1. Thank you so much for taking part in the Double Threat blog tour. This is so fun. I loved your review, especially the part about realizing the girls are acting very much their age. I hope you'll find they mature in each book. At some points, even I wanted to shake Meg and tell her to stop crying. Haha! Thanks again, and I look forward to reading more of your reviews in the future.
