Synopsis:
Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew by the time she was sixteen that she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. She wanted to see the world and fall in love and not be grounded to the predictable. Well, she did fall in love and had plans to check the other things off The List with Ian, but after she gave up her virginity to him, he died in a tragic car accident and Camryn was never the same. Shortly after, her parents divorced, her older brother went to prison, her new boyfriend cheated on her and she had had enough.
Determined
not to dwell on the negative and push forward with her life, Camryn is
set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job rather
than living off her family’s money. But after an unexpected night at the
hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate
decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.
With
a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn,
with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and
sets out to find herself. But what she finds is a guy named Andrew
Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own
dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. She
promised herself that she would never even get close to another friend,
especially after her best friend's betrayal. And she vowed never to fall
in love.
But
with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never
thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live
out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their
sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new
life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never
imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably
together, or tear them completely apart?
Due to sexual content and language, this book is recommended for 17+ – Adult Contemporary Women’s – New Adult Fiction
About the Author:
My Thoughts and Review:
I fell in love with Jessica's writing
after reading her first book in her YA series, Mayfair Moon
which is why I jumped at the chance to be a part of the blog tour for
her new book. Not only is The Edge of Never a
contemporary but it is also in the New Adult genre which I am quickly
learning is becoming a new favorite of mine.
I had no idea this was going to be told
in the alternating point of views of both Cam and Andrew, it was a
very nice surprise and something that was brilliant on Jessica's
part. It was crucial that we got both POVs because otherwise one
character or the other would have fallen flat. Instead it breathed
life into them and gave us that deep look into their thoughts that I
so love in a great story. I felt completely connected to both
characters, something that doesn't happen often even in dual POVs for
me. Jessica did this one beautifully.
I have to admit that at first while I
wouldn't say this story dragged for me, I was a little curious why
everyone was raving so much about this one. I mean it was good of
course because we are talking about Jessica here and she doesn't
write anything badly but still, I wasn't totally in love with the
story yet and then, well then about 40% in, BAM! Everything started
clicking into place and the story really started to unfold and before
I knew it I was completely and utterly hooked on Cam and Andrew's
story. Completely in love with them both and rooting for them the
whole way and totally getting why everyone has been raving about it
because this story is just..wow!
I feel the need to warn you though,
this story is hot. As in burn you hot. There is language and heat and
passion and yeah, be prepared, this one will blow you away and set
you on fire with some of the scenes. I may even have blushed during
some of them.
While I love Cam, I adore Andrew. He is
just amazing in everything he does and says.
I was pretty darn sure I was going to
like this one going into it but I had absolutely no idea how much I
was going to love it. I laughed (numerous times), I smiled, I
frowned, I got mad and I even cried...oh did I cry.
This was one roller coaster of emotions
and I loved every minuted of it.
The ending...simply put, was perfect.
Jessica once again proved to be just
how amazing as a writer she is. She meet my expectations in this one
and them blew them out of the water. If I could give this one more
than 5 Stars I would because it deserves it. Cam, Natalie, Andrew and
the other Parrish boys, all amazingly well done and real. I couldn't
of asked for a better cast of characters.
This will be on my to read list for
sure. I can't stop thinking about any of them and I want to take this
journey with them all over again.
What a great review. I just finished this last night and I totally agree, I absolutely loved it. I was like you, as far as wondering about it for a while. I liked it, but when it got good, did it really get good. I found myself literally balling my eyes out at the end (and I get sad a lot, but usually not like that), and then getting all relieved and happy again. It is definitely worthy of all the praise it has been receiving.
ReplyDeleteYep! I was worried it wasn't going to live up to it's hype but it definitely did!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking part in my tour and for all of your support! And for such a great review. Glad you enjoyed it! :-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Jessica!! I have had so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteI have this one on my kindle from back when I saw a ton of great reviews. Then this week I have seen loads more. Before I thought it was YA but the reviews this week have definitely showed me its not. Doesn't matter though, I just need to read it! Thanks for the warning of the slow start though!
ReplyDeleteI still need to read The Mayfair Moon! It didn't even click they were by the same author. I'm so excited for this one and I love dual POVs! Really does keep both characters interesting. I'm ready for the heat and tears and also relived to hear the ending is perfect. There is a lot of hype to this one which sometimes worries me but I love new adult too so I think I will also enjoy this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great review and an Awesome giveaway this is already on my TBR list so it would be awesome to win!!!
