Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It is a chance to share those new releases were are super anxious to get our hands on and read.
This is an author that I feel in love with after reading my first book by her and from there I vowed to read them all. There is just something about her writing that..draws you in.
And okay, the cover whore in me loves the softness and mystery of the cover too. :P
Release Date: August 11, 2014 (William Morrow)
Book Description:
Twenty-five year old Ivy Rowan rises from her bed after being struck by the flu, only to discover the world has been torn apart in just a few short days.
But Ivy’s life-long gift—or curse—remains. For she sees the uninvited ones—ghosts of loved ones who appear to her, unasked, unwelcomed, for they always herald impending death. On that October evening in 1918 she sees the spirit of her grandmother, rocking in her mother’s chair. An hour later, she learns her younger brother and father have killed a young German out of retaliation for the death of Ivy’s older brother Billy in the Great War.
Horrified, she leaves home, to discover the flu has caused utter panic and the rules governing society have broken down. Ivy is drawn into this new world of jazz, passion, and freedom, where people live for the day, because they could be stricken by nightfall. But as her ‘uninvited guests’ begin to appear to her more often, she knows her life will be torn apart once more, but Ivy has no inkling of the other-worldly revelations about to unfold.

DeleteThis one has my name all over it :D
ReplyDelete*high fives you*
DeleteI really love the sound of this book too, Ali. I've only read one book by the author and it was amazing.
ReplyDeleteLovely pick!
Same here Nick, I want to read all of her's though. :D
DeleteThis one sounds really good. I like the mix of historical fiction and paranormal.
ReplyDeleteI really do too!
DeleteOoooo this sounds amazing Ali! That is one gift/curse I would not want to have though. *shakes head* I like my world ghost-free ;-)
ReplyDeleteI really wouldn't want it either, it would be too scary to know that someone was there and there was nothing you could do about it, watching your every move! No thank you!
DeleteThis one is new to me. I hope you enjoy reading it!
ReplyDeleteMy WoW
Thanks, I hope so too!
DeleteOOh I love that cover!!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteYay! I've had this one for a while, but I'm waiting until closer to the release date to read it, which is silly, I suppose. I'm terribly impatient.
ReplyDeleteMe too. ;) If I read it too far in advance then it just seems weird for some reason. :P
DeleteI've been reading this on and off for the past few months (lol). I like it so far and the author knows how to set up a tense atmosphere (considering they're in a town just pre-WW2 that hates Germans) although it could be a bit dragging at times. Hope you get a copy soon and like it, love!!
ReplyDeleteFaye at The Social Potato
Thanks Faye, I'll keep in mind when I start this that there are slower parts.
DeleteOh gosh, I love Cat Winters and I can't wait to get this one.

DeleteI love the synopsis Ali and yes that cover is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you like it too. :)
DeleteThis author is pretty awesome. :) I have seen it around but just now realized that it is written by Cat Winters. I know I know I know. Anyway, great pick and, from me, it's a definite YES.
ReplyDeleteYay!
DeleteI haven't had much luck with her work. Here's hoping this one will be the one that changes that!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, Ali!
Keeps my fingers crossed that it will be!
DeleteI still need to read In the Shadow of Blackbirds, but this one sounds great. Thanks for sharing!
