Book Description:
Avery Melrose is used to having it all. So when her boyfriend cheats on her, she reacts like any spoiled rich girl-she freaks out and vandalizes his new truck, Carrie Underwood style. Now she's stuck with 300 hours of community service doing road-side garbage duty.
Seth Hunter just got out of prison, and after a few hundred hours picking up litter on the side of the highway, he can finally put his mistakes behind him. If he can string together some kind of existence, maybe it'll be enough to get his sister away from their stepfather, the man who sent Seth to prison in the first place.
A romance between these two is doomed from the start. Girls like Avery want castles and white horses, and Seth is no prince charming.
But sometimes, being around Avery makes Seth think he could make something of himself. Maybe even be worthy of a girl like her. It's just too bad real life gets in the way first, tearing these two apart before they have any chance of getting to Happily Ever After.
It is so hard for me to resist a strong heroine. They are my weakness every bit as much as a believable yet lovable bad boy is and I'm happy to say that this book offers both, which is why from the very first chapter, I already liked Avery.
This truly isn't anything unheard of or that probably hasn't been done before with it's familiar tropes and cliches yet it was a fun read that I quickly finished in no time at all. I couldn't help but feel for both main characters and root for them along the way.
A fun setting, situation, and story line, this really is something that fans of the genre are going to devour and enjoy.

Seems like an easy fun read! Glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace, I am too!
DeleteHmm... I like that cover and the sound of a strong heroine but the same old story? Not sure if I want to go through that.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it though, Ali! :)
Thanks Nick. ;)
DeleteSounds like this one doesn't necessarily blaze a new trail in the NA genre, but I'm all for a quick, fun read that entertains. I don't need every book to blow me away, sometimes I just want something easy and enjoyable:)
ReplyDeleteExactly. ;)
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it even though there wasn't much different in it for you. I love a strong heroine as well!
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with a feisty heroine.
ReplyDeleteNope never. ;)
DeleteSounds like a good summer read. I love strong heroines too. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun one. :D
DeleteSounds like fun, if a little unoriginal. Well, I suppose familiar tropes must still sell books, otherwise writers wouldn't persist in using them... In any case, yay for feisty heroines :D
ReplyDeleteThat must be true Ramona!
DeleteI don't usually get excited about books like this but sometimes they are nice to go back to. Easy to read compared to some of the stressful fantasies I read. And a feisty heroine is always fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree, which is why I like them so much as well Candace.
DeleteGlad you enjoyed this one, even if it wasn't all that original or anything!
ReplyDeleteThanks, me too!
DeleteI like ones like that for busy days when I just want something simple, fun and easy :D

DeleteLooking at that cover, it definitely looks highly predictable.
ReplyDeleteIt was but it was still a fun read which was nice. :)
