This is such a fun fantasy series that is all about the extraordinary and the monsters that lurk inside all of us!
Released: September 20, 2015
Series: Book Four in the Donovan Circus Series
Genre: YA/NA Fantasy
Book Description:
"Maybe I had to accept that the Donovan Circus no longer felt like home." Lucy might've beaten Alex the Chameleon, but the cost of his defeat was too much to bear. After losing a beloved member, Sheffield Donovan temporarily disbands the show. Abandoned by the ringmaster and her friends, Lucy is left to pick up the pieces of their ruined circus - and defend it against those waiting for the opportunity to strike. During one of these attempts, Lucy learns of Augustus Rivers, the leader of his so-called gifted mafia. When Lucy is offered a chance to infiltrate the Rivers' household, she jumps at the opportunity to seek vengeance on the mastermind. Augustus instead surprises everyone by proposing that the powerful female Firestarter work for him. It's everything the Donovan Circus isn't, an offer Lucy finds more enticing than she ever expected. With the Donovan Circus in shambles and the gifted world on the cusp of war, can Lucy Sullivan figure out who she's meant to be? Or will her fire destroy everything they've built?
I'm excited to have Liz here today with her new book Ignited, not only because is she a great writer but she has one of the funniest YA/NA fantasy series out there. If you are looking for something different and unique, then her Donovan Circus series. is the one of you!

Liz Long is a ridiculously proud graduate of Longwood University with a BA in English. Her inspiration comes from action and thriller genres and she spends entirely too much time watching superhero movies. Her fabulous day job as a social media editor includes writing for a publishing company in Roanoke, VA.
Her first book, Gifted, is the first book in the Donovan Circus series, where superpowers meets the circus. Burned is the second adventure. Her standalone book Witch Hearts, is a story about a serial killer hunting witches for their powers. Her newest book A Reaper Made is an NA Paranormal tale of a Reaper using magic to save her family from demons. All titles are available at Amazon on Kindle and paperback, Barnes & Noble for Nook, and iBooks.
With the crazy ride that was the third installment in this series, I was eager to jump back in and see where the gang from the Donovan Circus were. How they were dealing with their victories and their loses as well as the danger that I knew was still out there for this rag tag bunch of specials.
This was a fabulous addition to the series. It made me sad, it broke my heart in places, especially as they are all trying to grieve and be strong as well as it making me happy that for the most part, they are still a unit. Still strong, still together and still willing to do whatever it takes to help Lucy and get things done.
But most of all, it made me remember all over again why this series is so unique and fun.
Lucy has grown so much in so many ways and has taken on not only the job of protecting those around her and keeping them safe, but all the people out there like her. In fact, she may have taken on a little too much. But thankfully, she has some pretty amazing friends to help her out along the way...when she lets them that is.
All in all, I loved this book and am so excited with all that I just know is to come. Long has impressed me with her writing and how each new book in the series, gets better and better and it makes me even more eager for book five.

DeleteI remember now, this series had a different cover right? But I remember how unique it sounded with the circus and Lucy being a fire starter. I hunted this down on Amazon to try book one. Can't read to try it :)
ReplyDeleteYep she just redid all the covers, great memory Kim!

ReplyDeleteFaye at The Social Potato
Thanks Faye, it is fun because it is so unique and different.
DeleteI don't think I've heard of these. A book that revolves around a circus is pretty great though. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun and different setting for sure. :D
DeleteI've not heard of this series but it looks amazing. Add it to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad you are adding it!
DeleteI love a good character growth so this is exciting!
ReplyDeleteI really do too, it really is so important.
DeleteWhat is up with the giveaway? I want to enter. The cover is just freaking gorgeous, and here is yet another series you have been trying to convince me to read. I swear this next year is going to be about catching up.
ReplyDeleteWeird I don't know! It had today's date but still wouldn't accept entries. I had to change it to yesterday's date. So strange!
DeleteI love the cover Ali and your review has me really curious about the preceding books. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie!
DeleteWoooaahh... did I see circus? Where has this series been all my life?! Such an awesome sounding book!
ReplyDeleteThe circus aspect is fun. ;)
DeleteI have no idea at all why I've never heard of this series before?? WHERE HAS IT BEEN ALL MY LIFE?? Reading your review I don't think I saw anything about romance? Dang, usually this would bother me so I'm still on the edge about this book. But STILL if you liked it, I'm sure I will too. ♡
ReplyDeleteHi Keionda! There IS romance in the series if that's what you're asking 😊 thanks for the interest!!
DeleteDefinitely romance in it. ;)
DeleteIs this as gritty as Menagerie?
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Menagerie so I'm not sure but it does have a lot of action in it and people do die if that helps at all.?
DeleteWow! Never heard of this author but she is definitely on my radar now. I entered the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteIt's great that it still that good again! Plus the cover is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt is and I agree, the cover is pretty great. :D
DeleteGotta love a series that can go the distance, so to speak... So often we tend to fall out of love with them, somewhere around book two or three. I'm glad this one still has you excited! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree Ramona, it is nice when they stay fresh and fun. ;)
DeleteHow gorgeous! I love when a read makes me fall in love with a series all over again :D
ReplyDeleteMe too Anna. :D
DeleteGlad you loved it, Ali. I don't know much about this series, but as always, your enthusiasm is contagious!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy. <3
DeleteThat cover is amazing and it sounds good.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great cover!
DeleteI have a vague memory of reading a review that I think might be from this series. I didn't realize it was funny. I just might have to check out the first one :)
ReplyDeleteThere are funny moments but mostly it is pretty action packed. ;)
DeleteI'm not sure if this book is for me or not. The fun family unit sounds good, but I don't like circus' and the whole grief thing, but I suppose it makes sense as I'm guessing someone died in the last book. Wow it's something wicked time again? I found your blog a year ago then. :)
ReplyDeleteReally Molly? That is awesome! Yay!
DeleteAs for the book, the circus theme isn't huge, more the family aspect of it, if that helps sway you at all. ;)
Whilst this may not be a book I would typically read, there's no denying that the cover art is absolutely breathtaking. Truthfully, I would pick up the book for this sole reason alone! Interestingly enough, there have been a good handful of books whose cover arts have persuaded me to pick them up, and they've surprised me! Great review :)
ReplyDeleteI've had that happen as well Claudia and as much as I hate to admit it, I still pick books up because of the cover, it is so hard not to!
