I have been seriously debating this year which memes to do and which not to. I knew I wanted to incorporate something fun each week that wouldn't take up a huge amount of blogging time but still be very much book related.
I have always had fun seeing what other bloggers are anxiously awaiting each month for new releases so I thought, why not.
So, here I go at my very first attempt at Waiting on Wednesday, which is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
I admit, a huge part of me wanting to read this one is that gorgeous cover!
So what do you think? Are you interested in reading this one as well? Tell me what you are anxiously awaiting this week/month.
Book Description:
A death-defying tropical adventure delivers a frightening message about dabbling with creation from the talented author of Origin.
On a remote island in the Pacific, Corpus scientists have taken test tube embryos and given them life. These beings—the Vitros—have knowledge and abilities most humans can only dream of. But they also have one enormous flaw.
Sophie Crue is determined to get to Skin Island and find her mother, a scientist who left Sophie behind years ago. She enlists hunky charter pilot Jim Julien to take her there. But once on the island, Sophie and Jim encounter more than they bargained for, including a charming, brilliant Vitro named Nicholas and an innocent, newly awoken one named Lux.
In a race for their lives, Sophie and Jim are about to discover what happens when science stretches too far beyond its reach.
The cover is absolutely stunning and, being as shallow as I am, I know I won't be able to resist.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me, though!
I know, me too Maja!
ReplyDeleteI have seen this cover so many times but every time I see it I have to stare. It's so unusual! I hope you'll enjoy this one Ali :)
ReplyDeleteMe too Tanja and I agree, there is just something about it that makes you pause for a moment and stare at it. Definitely eye catching.
ReplyDeleteThat is one gorgeous cover to be sure Ali! Is this a companion to Origin then as opposed to a direct sequel? Just curious as to whether I could start with this book or if I need to read Origin first.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure this is a stand alone and not part of Origin, or at least it isn't labeled as such but it does sound similar doesn't it?
DeleteI think this is a separate book Jenny. I didn't find anything that said it was the sequel.
ReplyDeleteme too! me too! cannot wait.
ReplyDeleteI just started this one and I'm already sucked in! The cover is absolutely gorgeous and I really like Khoury's writing style. Can't wait to hear what you think of it when you read it!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you liked it in the end Lauren!
DeleteThis sounds good. Nice pick!
ReplyDeleteI saw this book on Edelweiss last night & I wanted it right then. I love the cover. Ive yet to read book 1 so I better get on board. I hear its quite good.
ReplyDeleteI have seen some mixed reviews but it seems like the majority of people that have read it are liking it!

I had this as a Wow last year and totally agree this sounds really good! :) Happy HUMP Day :)
ReplyDeleteYou too Kim!
DeleteI just got this unsolicited in the mail. I wasn't planning on reading it because I didn't love Origin but since they sent it I will definitely give it a try. I hope you get your hands on a copy!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your review on it Candace if you decide to read it.
DeleteThis cover really is cool. I read a couple of reviews that weren't exactly glowing, but I think it's something that I might like. I see people mentioning that it's on Edelweiss, but I don't remember seeing it there. Now I want to go check ...
ReplyDeleteEven with some of the bad reviews, I still want to try it, it sounds too good to not at least give it a chance!
DeleteI requested it on Edelweiss but got declined. :(
Me too Heidi. :(
ReplyDeleteI am happy to hear you are liking it so far Lauren, that makes me hopefully that I will too. :)

ReplyDeleteSadly I did too Heidi. :( I was looking froward to it as well just because it sounded so different and original.
