Book Description:
When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.
And she really can't imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe to find his brothers and complete a grand ceremony that will save mankind.
But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world.
From New York Times bestselling author Colleen Houck comes an epic adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself.
Colleen Houck's novels are always so well written, so beautiful and enchanting that they are hard to resist. In fact, she is one of the few author's that I will pick up, knowing that a love triangle and drama and angst might ensue and still not care, because her writing simply overshadows all the rest.
Her ability to weave mythology, romance, mystery, action, and adventure, all into one tale is truly breathtaking and her latest novel Reawakened was no exception.
Where to begin with this? It was, simply put, a fabulous read with mythology, romance (no love triangle!), adventure, and danger weaved into every single page and almost impossible to put down.
Even with a slower start, it didn't take long before I was completely wrapped up in Amon and Lily and what awaited them.
This was every bit the adventure and swoon worthy romance that I have come to expect from Houck and then some. I am so very excited to see what book two has in store for us.

Love-triangles and drama and angst, oh my! :P I haven't any of this author's books, but I know her other series is popular. And I love that cover. I bet it's gorgeous in person.
ReplyDeleteThankfully there was no love triangle in this one. ;)
DeleteAli, I was going to wait until next week to read this one, but I'm ditching that idea and starting it now! I'm so happy you loved this one so much. I'm really looking forward to meeting and loving Lily and Amon, the Egyptian mythology and the swoony romance.
ReplyDeleteLovely review!
I really think you will like this one Nick!
DeleteHow is it that I've never read any of Houck's books? So strange! I'm a bit worried about the love triangle and all the drama, but if you say it works, it works. Oh and btw, I downloaded This Monstrous Thing because you said so. :)
ReplyDeleteNo love triangle in this this one so yay! And woo hoo about This, I hope you love it!
DeleteOoooo I can’t wait to get my hands on this one! I haven’t read any of her other books though... I might pick those up first :P Great review!! :D
ReplyDeleteEither way, she is a fabulous author and I do hope you try something of her's.
DeleteI actually bought Tiger's Curse at a library sale but I haven't read it. It's actually in storage in anticipation of my move but when I'm settled I'm reading that sucka'. Everyone says her books are great. I love the cover of this new one. I'm checking it out. I can't wait to get wrapped up too!
ReplyDeleteI;m excited you have the first one, I really hope you love it!
DeleteI wasn't a fan of her first series, unfortunately. I was kind of hoping this one would be something that can change my mind, but once you mention love triangle, I probably won't even poke it with a stick. Lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, Ali!
No love triangle in this one Joy so read it!!
DeleteOkay. I have a question about this book that you probably can't answer in the comments due to spoilers, but I need to know - I cheated and read the end and was NOT happy Ali. NOT HAPPY! Do you think it will be remedied in the next book? I didn't realize this was a series...
ReplyDeleteLet's see if I can do think without spoilers, I think it will be. I was thinking the thing with the heart, has something to do with it and Ra knew about it. I was would be surprised otherwise if it didn't mean what happened would be fixed.
DeleteI hope that wasn't too vague and you understood what I was trying to say LOL!
OOH Kindlemom, I LOVE mythology in novels. Thanks for this great review!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Debbie for stopping by. :D
DeleteOoh, it sounds so good my toes are curling! :D This fits my current reading mood perfectly. Thank you <3
ReplyDeleteI do hope you read it, it really was fabulous. :D
DeleteYAY for no love triangle. That was the only thing that was holding me back from reading this one. Although I'm a bit nervous about the ending, thanks to Jenny's comment. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe ending was hard but I think it will be good for book two as well. ;)
DeleteHehe..everyone's jaw is hanging open cause there is no triangle. This wasn't even on my radar but you have me curious. Thanks for the warning about the slow start.
ReplyDeleteI think you would actually like this one Kim even though it is YA.
DeleteI have yet to read a Colleen Houck book but this will be the one! Such glowing words you have for Reawakened~ I love the sound of it!!
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely read this one Eileen!
DeleteIt sounds like Houck took the whole plot from a DiscoveryKids cartoon I was obsessed with as a kid. LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL it must have been some show then. ;)
DeleteOh my, it's been a long time since I read a book like this. Very myth based, must check it out. I suddenly miss this trope
ReplyDeleteVery myth based, if you like that, you will definitely like this one too!
DeleteThanks for the "no love triangle"....I really do not like them, but know that I know it doesn't have one it's on my radar again :)
ReplyDeleteYay! I was so happy this didn't have one either, it was a nice change of pace for this author.

DeleteYou had me at "swoon worthy romance!!" I recently got this from Netgalley and it sounds amazing. I'm really looking forward to the romance. I read Colleen's Tiger's Curse and so I hope I love this too.
ReplyDelete~Karina @ A Reader Under The Sea
I can't wait for you to read it, you're going to love the romance too, Amon is just amazing.
DeleteNormally not a fan of mythology-I know,.. I am usually in the minority there, I have heard of this author, but I don't think I have read anything by her.Sounds like a good read-thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteWell if you ever do decide to try it, I recommend this one. ;) Thanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteOh I do love some mythology. I've had my eye on this one since it showed up a while back in WOW posts. That's pretty awesome she's so good you're able to overlook some of the storylines that can make people twitch.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely try her even though I know this genre isn't normally your thing, you never know, you might like her. ;)
DeleteGah! I almost requested this on over at NetGalley! I have to confess that I was wary about reading the book in view of the mythological themes. Do they overwhelm the story? I'm curious :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think it did at all. It talks about a lot of stuff but I didn't think it was info overload or anything like that.
DeleteI love books that have mythology in them. Especially when done well. Sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteMe too and it really was well done.
