WoW Pick of the Week

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It is a chance to share those new releases were are super anxious to get our hands on and read.

I really enjoyed Dennard's debut series Something Strange and Deadly and when I saw she had a new series out, all about witches, I was ecstatic! I adore witches and with Dennard's writing combined with an element I already love, I just know it is going to be great.

Book Description:

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.

Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.

Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.

Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

  1. I was very unhappy with the way her debut series ended. It felt so unnecessary. I don't know about this one just yet. The hype is a little bit scary and tbh, has been putting me off. Maybe I'll wait until the whole series is out to know that I'm safe!
    Hope you'll love this, Ali!

    1. It did end rather sadly didn't it? I hope this one isn't the same but I love anything that has to do with witches so I'm sure eventually I will be picking this up. I might have to wait as well though Nick until it is all out. ;)

  3. I am literally excited for this one. If I could, I'd put this in every WoW I have in my brain (haha I don't really post them per se). Really hoping the hype delivers and it's not simply just that, a hype.

  4. YOU AND ME BOTH ALI!!!! I tried to snag this one at BEA but was too late. Fail. Though, like Nick, I have mild concerns about how things will play out, so I'm just going to have to start by reading the end first ;-)
