March Take Control of Your TBR Pile Challenge

So I have joined very few challenges this year, okay, okay, I haven't joined any. But that is only because last year I joined about a gazillion and just got burnt out on them so I needed a break, a long one.

But, of course, when I saw Kimba's challenge, I couldn't pass it up, after all have you seen my TBR pile? It is crazy big. Like Mt. Everest big. I would be ashamed about this book hoarding issue I seem to have but, I'm not. I mean really, there are worse things I could hoard and worse habits I could have.

So when I saw a challenge that I knew I couldn't pass up because it gives me a great excuse to put down some of those ARCs, blog tours and author requests to focus on stories, series and authors I have sorely missed, I couldn't resist.

So yeah, this month, with a few exceptions, I am concentrating on my TBR pile.

Those series I have been putting on hold. Those authors I have been dying to try and those books that are being turned into movies that I need to read before I can watch the movie (yes, that is how I role), this month is all about them.

If you haven't seen the challenge or signed up for it yet, check it out HERE. It is never too late to sign up and plus, Kim is just awesome and one of my most favorite bloggers and someone I call a friend.

Here are the rules:

So what books do I plan on getting read this month?

So glad you asked!

Here is a (tentative ) list of some of those great books I plan on tackling.

First up, I adore this series but never made it pass the first book and novella. I know you are asking how I can love it when I only read the first book but trust me on this, that first book was freaking fantastic!

And honestly, who can resist a sexy as sin reaper and a sarcastic feisty heroine? Not I!

I have been dying to read this book and now that it is finally a movie I just have to read it.

Part of what has been holding me back though is that I know it is going to kill me. Like ugly cry snot coming out of my nose kill me but you know what? I know it will be worth it.

The Book Thief. Okay I cheated on this one because it was on my list and then I picked it up and started it early but it was fabulous and another one that I needed to read before I could watch the movie. So I am adding it anyways because I picked it up because of this challenge and I will post my review on it here soon.

Also, my oldest needed a book about WWII to read for her book report and I wanted to read this with her, so...there you have it.

Another fantastic trilogy that is almost over. How could I let that happen and not be caught up?

I know what you are thinking, how could I not have picked this one up already right? I know! I have no idea why not other than I just haven't. So I am fixing that this month! And yes I do realize the third and last book is almost out so I have a lot of catching up to do!

This one is one I have been wanting to read but so does my daughter and I have a rule that I have to read everything first before she can because as much as I would like to say that I trust YA to be clean and acceptable for younger teens, I just know that isn't true so..I am mean and have to read it first. Plus like I mentioned above, this really is one I have been wanting to read so why not do it now?

I loved Pivot Point so I really am wanting to read this one and not get behind on those books and authors I really am digging.

I have seen nothing but glowing reviews for this one and most of my most trusted blogging buddies and friends have loved it so I am finally going to give it a try as well. Plus, I need something different in all of this YA mix to shake things up a little.

I love Cambria and I love this series but for some reason I never got around to finishing the last book and I am truly sad about that so now is a great time to try and get to it.

If you haven't tried this series yet, please do, it really is fantastic!

I love this series, Eve and Roarke are amazing characters and even though this is set in the future it is not sci fi feeling at all, in fact it feels very realistic.

It has been way too long since I have read one of the books in this series (there are like over 20 of them now!).

If you like the Outlander series with Jamie and Claire, you need to try this series, Eve and Roarke are very similar to them in my opinion, expect in a different place and setting.

So yeah, there is my tentative list. I would add more because I know I could read more but I am starting to feel overwhelmed just looking at this list, especially knowing I could add about a dozen more and still not even put a dent in my pile.

So wish me luck because I just may need it!!

  1. GOOD LUCK! I joined one also, but I don't think they posted anything for it this month. Maybe it has already fizzled out. I am finding it so hard to read what I "want" to read. I love the books I am getting for review, but I almost feel guilty when I am reading something that isn't for review. Which is silly, I know, but still! Good luck! The Book Thief will probably go down as one of my favorite books of all time. I have too many that are favorites, but it is such a beautiful story! Good luck!

    1. I know exactly what you mean I feel the same way and it is crazy, we shouldn't feel like that at all, which is why I joined. Great excuse to get them read and have fun. ;)

  2. Oh The Devil. I'm ashamed to look that book in the eyes (or cover) because I promised I'd read it so many times. I have heard amazing things about it and I cannot wait to see what you think of it. I'd love to join this challenge but sadly I have few dates with Mr Shakespeare this month so I don't think I'll make it. Good luck, Ali :)

  4. I can't remember if I signed up, I'll have to go look. I seriously NEED to do it, but right now is bad timing. My review pile is bigger than ever. Actually my pile of books that is for review ASAP is literally topping over. My husband said he thinks I need to start another pile (I have two already) and I said "NO WAY! I need to get through these books and if I add ANOTHER pile it'll be even more overwhelming!" and those are just the physical copy review books! I don't know why I got so many at once. And some are unsolicited, so I can skip them if I have to. I need to do something, cause it's just out of control! Anyway, good luck!

    1. I hear ya Candace! I tried all of February to read as many of my review books as I could so I could at least leave a huge chunk of March open for these. I did okay but I could have done better for sure.

  5. You got some great books to read. The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, Second Grave to the Left, and Sweet Evil are all some of my favorites. I'm linked up (I think - lol) and hope to have my post up later today. I have some great books (me books) not for review that I really want to read, but have put off because of review books. I'm hoping I can get to some this month! Can't wai to see what books you read this month :)

  6. Hi, I liked the way you explained a little about why you selected the books for this challenge. My goal is way too lower than yours. Good luck!

  8. I need to do this.....sigh......I started working full-time again so I dont have a much time as I used to. You have some really great choices. I have all three of the Sweet Evil books and I plan to read them back to back soon. I am so scared to read The Fault in Our Stars. I think I will be an emotional wreck. I can't wait to hear what you think. Good luck!!

  11. I have and need to read almost every single one of those. Gah--how is it that you can have literally hundreds of unread books, and still have days where you feel like you have nothing to read? Good luck at whittling down the pile!
