Book Description:
A dangerous adventure to save a distant world Ryen is just a normal guy trying to do his job. Unfortunately, that job includes trying to save his distant world on the brink of disaster.
Ryen is on a mission to Earth to find the answers to his distant world's most critical questions. While searching the Yucatan Peninsula for a mythic figure-a savior-who would live a perfect life and ultimately die to save their souls, Ryen meets Savannah, a beautiful woman hiding a painful past. On their dangerous adventures together through the untamed jungles of Mexico, he can't help but fall in love with her. As his time runs out, Ryen must decide if he is willing to give up everything he has ever known and loved to stay on Earth with Savannah.
The Masters, a powerful clan of corrupt leaders, are plotting to take back Earth, the sacred planet, from the humans. Ryen and Savannah are thrust into the middle of The Masters' plot.

Fantasy can be so hit or miss with me, throw in aliens and even more so. So even though I loved the premises of this, I was still very apprehensive going in to this. I had no idea having never read the author before what I would be in for.
Would the world be well developed? Would it be too sci fi? Would I connect with the characters and fall in love with them and more importantly, would the world the author created be real and believable?
These questions are such important ones because the answers could make or break a story for me in any genre but especially this one.
Thankfully the author created a beautiful detailed rich world that was easy to follow, easy to picture and even believable.
The storyline was engaging and the characters likable. Their love story was extremely swoon worthy and I loved all the tender moments between Anna and Ryen.
I am not going to lie, this took me by surprise with how quickly I was able to fall into the world and story that Bryant created. It isn't always easy to hook me in this genre but the author did it beautifully.

Just added it to my TBR list-sounds like a pretty decent book :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Finley Jayne! If you give it a chance, I hope you like it! :)
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed The Others. Anymore, it seems like it's nearly impossible to find well done standalones. Does the story take place in the Yucatan - like an jungle adventure? I'm excited by the fact you fell into the world so easily. Thanks for sharing, Ali :)
ReplyDeleteIt actually takes place in a few different places. ;)
DeleteFantasy with Aliens? Interesting. I love when a book I'm slightly worried about completely surprises me and I end up for more engaged than I thought I would be when I started. Yay for a swoon-worthy romance!
ReplyDeleteMe too Jenny!
DeleteMy feelings on Fantasy and aliens are similar to yours, so although you liked this one, you didn't love it.
ReplyDeleteIt is a hard genre for me for sure.
DeleteIt's nice that, in a genre that's hit-or-miss for you, this one was enjoyable. It sounds great!
ReplyDeleteHi Megan! If you give it a shot, I hope you like it. Reviews of my book are always the same- "I thought I would hate it and I ended up really liking it." I like to think that this is sci-fi for people who don't like sci-fi. :)
DeleteI haven't heard of this one before but it sounds pretty good. I can be hit and miss with fantasy too. Great review :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review and giving my book a shot! I appreciate it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me!
DeleteI'm glad you did enjoy this one! I agree that I'm a bit picky when it comes to fantasy but when I love them, I REALLY love them!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard not to when they are well done Candace. :)
DeleteI am glad this hooked you and that you found the romance swoon-worthy. Great review Ali!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear the world sucked you in and that you enjoyed the romance - I need to read this because this genre normally works pretty well for me. Awesome review!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren and I do hope you decide to try it. :)
DeleteYeah, I know what you mean. Thanks Heidi. :)
ReplyDeleteAh yes it's the same for me, I'm quite difficult with fantasy and even more with sci-fi so well I'm not really sure about this one...
ReplyDeleteI understand but it is well written if that helps. ;)
DeleteMelliane,
DeleteIf it helps, I call it sci-fi for people who don't like sci-fi. Sci-fi light? It is more about the love story and the adventure than anything else. :)
Great review. Still on the fence....I'm not really an "alien" fan, some I have read have been great some not so much.. They just seem to be so hit and miss for me:)
ReplyDeleteI love that the romance was swoon worthy. I really enjoy fantasy, but aliens tend to be hit or miss for me. But the fantasy and the romance make me think that I will really like this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a new book with me. I'm adding this one to my TBR
Great review! :)
Yay! I am glad you are going to give it a try. :)
DeleteI don;t read a lot of fantasy, but this sounds good. Great review.
ReplyDeleteIt really is one I would recommend even for those that don't love fantasy. :)
DeleteOkay this sounds like it's right up my alley! It's going on my tbr pile. Thanks for the good review!
ReplyDeleteYay!
