Book Description:
All she wants is a home, but can she find one...UNDER DIFFERENT STARS
Kricket Hollowell is normally not one to wish upon stars; she believes they’re rarely in her favor. Well versed at dodging caseworkers from Chicago’s foster care system, the past few years on her own have made Kricket an expert at the art of survival and blending in. With her 18th birthday fast approaching, she dreams of the day when she can stop running and find what her heart needs most: a home.
Trey Allairis hates Earth and doubts that anyone from his world can thrive here. What he’s learning of Kricket and her existence away from her true home only confirms his theory. But, when he and Kricket lie together under the stars of Ethar, counting them all may be easier than letting her go.
Kyon Ensin’s secrets number the stars; he knows more about Kricket's gifts than anyone and plans to possess her because of them. He also knows she’s more valuable than any fire in the night sky. He’ll move the heavens and align them all in order to make her his own.
When everything in their world can be broken, will Kricket rely upon love to save her under different stars?

This genre is not something I read a lot of which is bizarre because I love watching movies and shows with a sci fi theme but throw a book into the mix and more often than not, I won't even give it a second glance.
But when this showed up on my doorstep and I saw the gorgeous cover and the blurb, I knew I was making one of my rare exceptions and giving it a chance. Yes I can be petty and shallow like that.
But oh goodness how this story completely captured my attention and held it. I was completely under the author's spell and fascinated with the world and people she had created.
I loved feisty headstrong Kricket from the word hello and that love just grew as her character and story evolved.
Trey was just as fabulous, and Jax and Wayra stole the show. There is something to be said about secondary characters that you want to know and love every bit as much as the main characters.
I seriously went into this expecting nothing and getting so very much in return. I loved it and can't wait for book two to be out. I know there are so many more adventured for Trey, Kricket, Jax, and Wayra and I can't wait to take the journey with them.
glad to hear you loved this book, I have it on my shelve but seriously I wasn't sure if i read it ,, now i think it worth a read :)
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely worth it!

DeleteI've been hearing such amazing things about this book Ali! I need to add it to my list immediately. I love the sound of Kricket, feisty heroines always make me happy:)
ReplyDeleteYou will like Kricket. ;)
DeleteYAY! Wasn't this great? I thought it had a nice mash-up of sci-fi and romance, and Kricket and Trey had such chemistry together. And, I completely agree that Jax and Wayra stole the show, so adorable.

DeleteYAY! I'm so happy you enjoyed this too, Ali. I was taken in by that gorgeous cover too, but the story was really good too. I loved Kricket's character and I can't wait for more in this series. :)

DeleteI was so excited when I saw that you were reading and loving this too Heidi!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an interesting book. I wish I had more time to read.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, there are so many great books out there right now.
DeleteEveryone is mad gushing about this book so far and as you and I are alike when it comes to sci-fi books so the fact that you loved this is a good thing for me. Gah! I'm kicking myself for not grabbing this when I had the chance!!
ReplyDeleteI do hope you are able to read this sometime soon, I think you will really like it. Sorry you missed out on it!
DeleteI actually feel similarly but about PNR tv shows. I very rarely start a PNR tv show and continue watching it just because I'd rather read PNR books. I am glad though that the one time you made an exception, it was worth it!
ReplyDeleteLovely review, Ali!! :)
Rashika @ The Social Potato
Funny how that works isn't it?
DeleteIndeed, Ali. Indeed. I need some more of Kricket and the boys.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely!
DeleteThanks for stopping by and I am so glad you are adding it to your TBR pile!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see that even if it's not something you usually read you had a great time with it! I saw another good review about this one, I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteYou should try it, it is pretty great!
DeleteI love when secondary characters are strong and you have piqued my interest. Lovely review Ali!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, the cover caught my attention too, most definitely.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's awesome to go in with little to no expectations, I think that's when the read really has a chance to shine, you know? I end feeling guilty when I go into a read with expectations, because I feel like I might deny it the chance to actually do its thing, you know? I'm glad you went in with no expectations and enjoyed it this much! I might give it a try myself, because that cover, lol! I can't resist good reviews from people whose opinions I respect, and a yummy cover too :D
I know exactly what you are talking about and I agree!
DeleteThe cover had caught my attention and than the synopsis. Now that I've read your review, I know I've got to check it out. Great review!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much and I am so glad that you are going to check it out more!
DeleteI'm so happy that you've read this one despite the fact that you usually don't read sci fi themed books. This one is new to me but it sounds really interesting. I will have to give it a try :) Great review.
ReplyDeleteHey Tanja! I am so happy to see you! I do hope you give this a try, I bet you really like it.
DeleteI am still considering whether to give this book a try, it sounds good, but it I also read some negative reviews that make me doubt. Great review and I am glad to hear you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope you try it and like it as much as I did.
DeleteCan't wait to start this one. Although the Kricket name really doesn't appeal to me x) Lovely review!
ReplyDeleteIt is a different name but they all have unusual names in this.
DeleteI didn't even know about this one yet. I am glad you liked it. Adding it to my list now.
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad you are adding it. :)
DeleteI'm a fan of scifi books but I haven't had much luck lately. I love that feeling of wanting to know more about all of the characters! I'll have to wishlist this.
ReplyDeleteI hope you do make time for this, I think you will like it. :)
DeleteI would pick it up just because of the cover! It's beautiful. Great review as always Ali. I am excited to read it.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fabulous cover and thankfully the story inside is just as good!
DeleteGreat review, glad you enjoyed this one so much. I watch more sci-fi shows and movies, but then seem to avoid sci-fi books. I'm not sure why though. Maybe I should give this one a go.
ReplyDeleteI do that as well and like you, not really sure why. I bet you like this one.
DeleteI too watch a lot of sci-fi, but as far as reading goes i am lacking in that department as well, thought to be fair I had a hard time finding good books with sci-fi :) luckily this looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou will really like this one!
