The Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
~this meme was inspired in part by ~ In My Mailbox~
It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

It has been hot here! Like in the high 90's low 100's hot and while I love summer, I so can not deal with that kind of heat. I feel like the Wicked Witch in Wizard of Oz...I'm melting, I'm meeeellllting!

This past week was terrible book reading wise. With company in town I got a big whooping 1 book read. One. Book.

I can't even begin to tell you how often that does not happen around here. To be honest, I am slightly panicking over that number. I will have a lot of catching up to do this coming week if I am ever going to get any of the books I planned to read this summer read.

But that is okay..right? Right? Seriously. Trying not to panic over here.

Good news though, my dad was here and it was wonderful to see him. My girls had a blast seeing their grandpa and it was nice just to hang out and relax and not worry too much about my blog or my reading. I actually think I needed the break.

Also good news, I ordered a new laptop and it should be here sometime this week. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about this. My laptop now is, are you ready for this? It's slightly horrifying...four years old. In the computer world, that is pretty ancient! Actually, it isn't that it is old so much as that it just doesn't do everything I want it to anymore and the screen is going out so sometimes trying to see on it is great fun and requires some nudging and sometimes even banging to get it to come back, if it does at all. It freezes a lot of the time and it about as temperamental as a cranky chihuahua. Needless to say this purchase is long overdue.

It comes with windows 8.1 so, yeah, it might take me awhile to get it all straightened out since I have no experience whatsoever with it. Wish me luck blogsphere, I may need it!

This past week on my blog it was way calmer than the previous week, which was nice because the week before was insane.

  1. Good luck with your new laptop! When my Windows 8.1 laptop came, I was a bit puzzled for a while but eventually you get the hang of it!

  2. It's no wonder you didn't have time to read with your dad visiting! When my sister is here, I pretty much drop everything else. You reviewed some pretty awesome books this past week, though. I'm starting Of Metal and Wishes today and I can't wait.
Have a fabulous week! And don't panic. :)

  3. We've had the opposite here-sooo cold so far this summer! We're heading out on a local cottaging vacation this week, and on Tuesday the temp is supposed to be 63 degrees! We had planned on going tubing down a river that day, but that's going to get canceled now grrr.

    1. 63 sounds good right now. :P Funny how you always want the opposite weather of what you have. ;)
I hope you have a great vacation!

  4. One book is fine, enjoy your time with family and I think you need this break too!

Don't get me started about laptop age! Mine is "ancient" but it works still and I love this baby so I hope it sticks around for much longer.

  6. Ahh I still need to update to Windows 8.1
I keep getting the reminders but I am so NOT ready to let go of 8 yet.

Also I TOTALLY know how you feel! I usually end up panicking too if I haven't read what I deem 'enough books'. I should calm down a little but what with my arcs piling up.. I am just trying to get through 'em all.

But hey, having family over should make you feel better! :)

I hope you have a fabulous week, Ali and get some more reading done! :)

  7. Yay for the new computer! I did my windows update and it totally screwed things up. I can't open any word docs or anything. I need to actually bring it in because it's already acting funny.
Have a wonderful week! (And don't melt- we've been having the same issue, it's too hot!)

  9. YOU GOT UGLY LOVE? Jealous. You should start watching Window 8 tutorials on Yotube now before it even gets there. I'm so glad I watched some. I don't even use any of that app crap. Just download the browser of your choice and use it. And I stick with the desktop feature so it's basically like the old OPs.

    1. Christy I just finished it and let me tell you, you are going to LOVE it!

Thanks for the tips about the videos, I will definitely do that. I can't believe how nervous I am about figuring it out.

  11. I am glad you got to enjoy the time with your family! That is my favorite thing in the whole world. Yay, for a new laptop. Mine is like 3 yrs old, and it is ancient. I still love it though and do not want to upgrade. How silly is that. My daughter just got a new one with 8.1 and she loves it though. I hope you find it easier to navigate than I do...hehehe! I am use to my slow and steady laptop.

  12. I do actually love my new laptop, with windows 8.1. It's new, but it is exactly like my window's phone. Plus, they have really short youtube videos installed on one of the apps if you ever need any help with it. I'm glad that you had fun with your family in town. I haven't been reading as much lately, unfortunately. I wish I could read more than one book a week :) It all just depends on what happens.

    1. I bet it was easier after having the phone for sure. That is great that there are videos on it as well, that might be helpful to me for sure.

  13. I'm a mac user but I'm going back to school and now I need to install the operating system on my laptop so that will be a treat to get used to that again! Especially since 8.1 is so different! I used Windows 7 at work before but it wasn't much different from XP which was the last windows OS I owned. Enjoy Kindlemom! Yay to new stuff :)

    1. Thanks Michelle! We have gotten a couple of new towers in the time since buying the laptop so it was overdue. Sadly neither of the towers has had 8 so, this might be an adventure!
