Best of 2013

So this is the place where I tell you all about some of my most favorite reads from this year. Not all of them are 5 star reads but they are all ones that I absolutely adored and really do think are must reads, especially if you like the genres.

Okay, so technically I read this late last year because I was lucky enough to get an ARC of it but this does release this year and it was amazing so I have to include it for my favs for this year.
This book blew me away with its rich imagery and detail. It was dark and gritty and just fantastic! a much read.

I already knew I loved Jessica's writing but this book blew me away. It was just fabulous. It had me laughing, crying, smiling, the works. truly very well done. This is for mature 18 plus people though, there is language and some sexual scenes. Definitely belongs in the New Adult genre and not for teens.

After reading Down To Me last year it is no wonder Up To Me is also on my list this year. This was a fabulous sequel and if possible, I loved it even more than the first. I can't wait for the next book!
2013 is already looking like a great year for releases!
This book does have language and some rather intense scenes that aren't for everyone but the actual storyline and characters are fabulous.

The first book Ruining Me was a favorite last year and the sequel is not any different. If anything, Nicole's writing got better.  This was an unbelievable second book and the ending was just beautiful.
Steamy scenes in this one as well so again, not for a younger ausience but the messages in this one can't be ignored.

Holy crap this book took me by surprise! It was amazing. I actually stayed up until 2 in the morning to finish it. I just couldn't put it down. I am on edge waiting for the second book to be out.

Another great one that completely took me by surprise with how much I loved it.
I am eagerly looking forward to the next installment. This was chocked full of action and mystery and was just so much fun to read.

This was such a great heartfelt read. Way more so than even I was expecting. A laughed a little, I cried a little and I smiled a whole lot. This one really blew me away with how much I loved and enjoyed it.

Okay really, this one, I just dare you to read and not fall in love with Lennon. I don't think it is possible. This book was amazing and so much more emotional than I ever thought it would be. I really look forward to the sequel.

I love this series and this latest installment blew me away! I adore Aiden and Alex and the last book in the series will be bittersweet. If you haven't read this series yet you really need to.

I loved Lengths last year when it came out but Depths, was even better.  Steph and Liz are quite the writing duo and I for one will read whatever they choose to write together in the future because their writing is simply amazing and is just getting better with time. They know how to write one swoon worthy male character and a story that you think about long after you have put the book down.

This one I can't say too much about because I don't want to give anything away but this is one dystopian you MUST try. It truly had me turning the pages and on the edge of my seat, I just couldn't get enough.  I can not wait for the sequel to be out.

This is one book that has such a great message in it that I really do think everyone should read it. It was very well written and the characters were awesome. I think anyone who has ever felt about about their self image needs to pick this one up and give it a try. I don't think you will be disappointed in the least.

I just adore this series, it is so much fun to read and it amazes me each time I pick a new book up that Kemmerer manages to write in the male voice as well as she does. This is one of those series filled with not only hot boys but action as well. I completely love it. A must read for any YA fantasy lover.

J. Meyer's rocks my world. Her writing is just amazing and her second book in her hot YA series is no exception. I love her characters, the storyline, everything. Another must read for any love of YA fantasy. I always have a great time reading one of her books.

I adore Sarah's books and this one isn't any different. She always brings out so many emotions in me whenever I read one of her stories, she truly is a talented writer and one that will forever be on my auto buy list. This book has it all, humor, drama, romance and some real, tough life situations. A must read.

2013 is the year of dystopians and I have read a ton of them but this one really stood out to me and surprised me with how much I really enjoyed it. If you love dystopians then this is the read for you.

This is my new favorite Urban Fantasy series. I love everything about it. the snarky witty one liners, the amazing main AND secondary characters, the storyline, it's originality, the writing, I love it all. Such a fun series and I can not wait for the next book to be out, it is killing me with the way this one ended. Robson knows how to write.

I say this every time I read one of her books but, I just adore this series and it seems like it just keeps getting better and better. If you love mythology, a kick butt heroine, a sweet romance and non stop action, you so need to read this series...like now.

This series, The Sentinels of New Orleans,  has become a favorite already, even after only three books. I love it. I don't know what else to say about it other than to give it a try. DJ is kick butt, Jean, Jake and Alex are swoon worthy and this whole series is just amazing and so much fun to read! I have to warn you, I didn't "love" it until the second book and by the third (this one) I was completely hooked so if you try the first and don't love it, hang in there, it gets better and better!

Okay this series just blew me away, Nyrae's writing just blows me away. I couldn't have asked for two more perfect emotional, tear your heart out reads. I have to warn you, these aren't easy reads. They have language and are gritty and will seriously break your heart but oh boy are they worth it!

Okay, I wasn't sure I wanted to try this series, it has a lot of hype around it and we all know what happens with hype, more often than not I am completely disappointed. that wasn't the case with this one. It loved up to my expectations and then surpassed them. Again though, be warned this is not a light and fluffy read. It is dark and gritty and a little tough to get through at times but again, so very worth it. Sarah Fine is an amazing writer and draws you right into the dark and bleak world she created.

I loved the first book in this series and I was prepared to love the second but nothing prepared me for the greatness that was the second book. It was so much more emotional and strong and just...really really good. If you love the NA genre, this is a must read.

Okay again, this was such a great read, such a great (clean) love story. It reminds me a little of the movie Somewhere in Time but without the depressing ending.

I don't love a lot of fantasy but once in a while a great one will come along that will blow me away, this was one such read. If you love YA and Fantasy, this is the read for you. Again, this is a very clean read. No sex, no drugs and very little language.
This is my favorite historical mystery series. It truly is just divine and sadly it has been awhile since a new book in the series has been released so when I saw this novella (Christmas themed or not) I jumped at the chance to read it.

If you love Celtic mythology then this is the series for you. Just the right amount of romance, action, mystery and mythology to keep you turning the pages and wanting more when it is over.

This is a fun unique series by an up and coming indie author and one you don't want to miss out on. It is unique and original and completely fun.

If you love time travel and a story with great characters that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this is a must read book! Terrell's debut novel was a huge success and one that will leave you with your mind reeling at all the possibilities.

I have loved this trilogy from the very first book and Found was not any different. a fabulous conclusion to the series. But don't worry, a spin off series is in the works and I can't wait!

Okay I have a confession, I don't normally love fantasy but I LOVE this series. It is so kick butt and one that is seriously just a must read whether you like the genre or not. Caleana, Choal, Dorian, they are all fabulous and characters you don't want to not meet. Maas is a literary genius!

Okay this is an adult fantasy series, and again, I am not normally a fan of the genre but every now and then I have to make an exception and this one was it. Not only does it have a great story line that is completely original but it has kick butt hilarious characters as well. I always have a smile on my face and a laugh ready to burst when I am ready this series. So darn good!

This was a great addition to the duology and such a nice look into both Travis and Abby. I didn't realize how much I missed their story until I picked this one up.

Harvey did it again with this explosive look into witches. I loved every single minute of this book and can not wait until the sequel. I see a favorite new series in my future!

Could this series get any  better than it already is? Why yes, yes it can! Have you met Echo yet because if not, you are so missing out! A lovely addition to the series.

All I have to say to this is, Bren. Need I say more about the prickly protective loan wolf we have all come to know and love? This was a fabulous look into him and now, well now, I just want more of him.

I loved this and surprisingly, it has a happily ever after I was not expecting. A must read for any McAdams fan.

Because of this book I can no longer say I am not a huge fan of YA fantasy because, I loved this! So well done.

This is one of those trilogies you need to make time for. Great characters, a variety of people and beings to keep you interested, snark, romance, mystery and one heck of a fun plot. Gayle really did create something unique in this one.

This might be a novella but it had one heck of a punch to it. Loved, loved this!

My most surprising love of this year would have to be Angelfall. I am not a fan of angel and demon books usually but this one blew me away and I loved every single page of it.

I adore this series and each book just gets better and better and the best part about it is that each acts as a stand alone so if you miss one or two it isn't a big deal, but trust me on this one, you don't want to skip out on any of them.

Again, this might be a novella but come on, this is Morpheus and Jeb we are talking about. What is there not to love? A must read for any fan of Splintered. Howard is an amazing story teller.

I was nervous about this one at first but I didn't have anything to be worried about, this was an amazing continuation of Andrew and Cam's story, just beautiful.

Bickle is another amazing story teller that you can't help but get wrapped up in the world and characters that she created. A must read for any fan of The Hallowed Ones.

This is another one that took me by surprise. This is not a fluff read, it is gory and sarcastic and the main character is anything but a plain Jane Mary Sue. She is tough and a little bit evil. A must read if you want something different and fun and just down right great.

There is nothing like a good steam punk and time travel story with a dash of romance all rolled into one great story. This debut novel by these two authors was amazing!

If there is one thing Ms. Fine can do it is draw you in and hold your attention. This girl can write! And while this did end on a cliffhanger, it was so worth it and I can't wait for the next one.

We don't have enough books like this one in the YA or NA genre. This was just a great read I completely got wrapped up in.

This was a fun read, nothing beats a meddling crazy Grandma.

I am all about the emotional and this was a great YA read. It was one that makes you teary eyed and laugh and root for the main character to find her happily ever after.

While I might be all about the emotional I am also all about the sarcasm. Nothing beats a kick butt heroine who is full of spunk. I loved this read and it completely took me by surprise.

This might not have Travis and Abby in it but it was a great leap into a new genre for Ms. McGuire and one I am glad I took a chance on.

We need more well written mysteries in the YA genre, this one was outstanding and a must for any lover of a good jeep you guessing story.
This was one of my most anticipated sequels this year and I am happy to report that is didn't let me down. Amazing sequel and I can't wait for the next one.

I love Higgins. Her stories are just so heartfelt and amazing. Witty characters, hilarious scenarios and characters you can't help but fall in love with. This was another home run for her.
