November Update...I'm Alive, But Exhausted!

So sorry for the unexpected hiatus everyone! Did you miss me? :p

So where in the world have I been? Helping my mom move!

Okay I knew this was going to be a big project and I expected I would need a small break from blogging but I had no idea how big of a job this would be and just how tired at the end of the day I would be, especially since I still had my own house work, cooking, homework help, picking up kids, grocery shopping, laundry....and everything else to do.

I kid you not, the women has more clothes than a boutique store. Try like a huge walk in closet and then two other bedroom closets full (not small closets either).

My mom decided she needed/wanted to downgrade her house because it really is just too much for one person anymore (with a huge yard on top of a big house) so after twenty plus years of living in the same house, decided a change was due. Which is great expect, my mom, come to find out, is a pack rat...like seriously, in some cases I think it was boarding on hoarding. I mean, really how many pairs of shoes does one person need?

So after a week and a half of working 5 plus hour days just packing her house up, two days of hired moving van help and then another week to help unpack, we are....yes, still only almost done.

You guys, I'm.So.Tired!

But the end is in sight and everything should be done by the weekend, including putting new furniture together because after all whats a new house without new stuff right? Gah!

So anyways, that is where I have been and what I have been up to. I've tried to blog when I can but honestly, my heart (and body!) just wasn't into it.

I've been thinking a lot about where I want to go with my blog and even if I still want to blog still, to be honest I'm feeling a bit burnt out on everything. Even though I am still reading (well not these past two weeks) books , writing reviews for them is another thing all together. My heart just isn't in it for whatever reason. Maybe it is that 5 year itch thing most bloggers that have been around that long seem to be going through, I don't know. But for now, I will be taking it slow and not posting as much until I feel like I am 100% back in the game.

With the holidays around the corner and school being out again, I will more than likely not be online much anyways so, maybe once the new year hits I will get more back into the groove of things, or maybe not. I guess time will tell but for now, one day at a time right?

I have missed talking to all of you though! And don't worry, I'm not disappearing, just hanging low for awhile until I get back up to speed on things and catch up with everything at home first.

Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving! I know it was a day of rest and fun I definitely needed.

  1. Helping move sure can be exhausting! Oh my! I'm glad you had a good thanksgiving. I think a lot of us have been on a bit of a hiatus. I'm trying to come back a little myself.

  2. I just got back from an enormous hiatus, so I know how you feel. Honestly, I almost quit blogging as well. Luckily, my co-blogger pulled me back from the edge.

  4. Bless your heart Ali. I'm tired just reading about it LOL
I don't even want to think about a move but I know its in our future. We're getting too old to live so far from docs and services with no transportation services out here rural either so I know in the next few years we'll be giving up small town living for a condo in the city! I'll be happy to see you back but for heaven's sake take a load off first \

    1. Thanks so much Debbie! And moving is definitely never easy, the actual part or the change but it can be really good too. ;)

  5. Glad the moving went well. It's a very stressful and big endeavor. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I took a Thanksgiving hiatus because my heart wasn't into blogging. I can't force myself to write when I'm not in the mood. It just comes out wrong.

    1. Yes exactly and that forcing is what I'm trying really hard not to do because when I do, my reviews are always crap. :(

  6. I hear ya about the whole pack rat thing. My mom was the same way, and we haven't even begun to go through her stuff. I dread it. I also agree about blogging. I have gone through ups and downs with it too. Right now I am in the down phase. It is the holidays, no one is posting and I am so tempted to just take off until the New Year, but luckily, I have my blog prepped almost completely until Christmas and then I am taking two weeks off. I think we will all be more energized after the holidays and it will good to get back into the grove in the New Year.

  7. So totally feeling you! I am just exhausted to think about blogging and commenting even though I like it and even though I have other stuff I'm working on. Congrats on surviving the mood and I look forward to hearing from you when you feel like it ♥

  8. Welcome back, Ali! What a crazy week but I bet your glad to be mostly done. The thought of moving my mom and dad sends shivers, lol, down my spine. 40+ years in their home, and, my mom is a collector (putting it nicely here) of stuff. Glad to have you back :)

  9. You are such a good daughter..but yes backing and moving is exhausting. We moved 6 times in our marriage..all homes, and to different states. Blog when you want, so mini reviews...there are no rules.

  12. Ok that entered before I was done. I was going to say that I hope you are going to get some good rest now. I can totally understand how you are so burned out now. Sometimes things are just too much and it sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Good idea to get past the holidays before you decide anything.

  16. I've missed you! Yeah, that sounds like a HUGE job! I don't even know how long it would take to move my mom. (My dad was a bit of a sentimental packrat.) I'm glad that you're done! Enjoy your break and rest up!

  18. Moving is so hard. I really hate doing it. I keep joking that instead of moving, when I decide I need to be in a different house, I will just set the current house on fire and buy new stuff. So not going to happen, but...

I hope that you have a great holiday season and that things slow down for you in the new year.

  19. Moving is stressful, and you are such a good daughter to support your mom. Though it definitely sounds like a lot of work I hope your mom likes her new house. Take you break and come back, Ali. I liked your discussion post; maybe you should write more of those instead of reviews if you don’t enjoy writing reviews right now?
