Expected Publish Date: August 5, 2014
Atria Books

Book Description:
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

Review: The Boys of Summer by C.J. Duggan

Title: The Boys of Summer
Author: C.J. Duggan
Series: Book One in the Summer Series
Published: December 17, 2012
Source: Purchased
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
My Rating: 4 Stars!

Book Description:
It seemed only natural to nickname them the ‘Onslow Boys’. Every time they swaggered in the front door of the Onslow Hotel after a hard week’s work, their laughter was loud and genuine as they settled onto their bar stools. I peeked through the restaurant partition, a flimsy divider between my world and theirs. I couldn’t help but smile whenever I saw them, saw him ... Toby Morrison.

Quiet seventeen-year-old Tess doesn’t relish the thought of a summertime job. She wants nothing more than to forget the past haunts of high school and have fun with her best friends before the dreaded Year Twelve begins.

To Tess, summer is when everything happens: riding bikes down to the lake, watching the fireworks at the Onslow Show and water bomb fights at the sweltering Sunday markets.

How did she let her friends talk her into working?

After first-shift disasters, rude, wealthy tourists and a taunting ex-boyfriend, Tess is convinced nothing good can come of working her summer away. However, Tess finds unlikely allies in a group of locals dubbed ‘The Onslow Boys’, who are old enough to drive cars, drink beer and not worry about curfews. Tess’s summer of working expands her world with a series of first times with new friends, forbidden love and heartbreaking chaos.

All with the one boy she has never been able to forget.

It will be a summer she will always remember.

Warning: sexual references, and occasional coarse language.

I have had this book in my TBR pile for way too long, which (sadly) seems to be happening more and more lately with so many great books being released each year. Which really, is a shame because this one came highly recommended to me by a few trusted bloggers and friends and when that happens I always know that they will be ones that I will like as well, which totally was the case.

Where to begin? First off I think it is fair to say that even though I really liked this, this won't be for everyone. Why you ask? Simply because this is a book involving teenagers, ones that make a lot of mistakes, have some angst and where things could be so easily resolved if only they would communicate with one another, but then again, isn't that really how it is in the world of the young? We make rash sometimes impulse decisions and we always jump to conclusions. What fun would it be if we were all level headed, mature and calm at that age?

Having said all of that, I hope I didn't discourage you from picking this up because, it is, in fact, a really great read. Toby and Tess, the Onslow Boys, Adam, and Ellie are all fabulous characters in their own right. And even though they aren't always mature and level headed they are all there for one another and they are loyal and best of all, they learn from their mistakes.

I think overall, this was a pretty realistic look into a story about two (okay really, a whole gang of people) people learning to be adults, what  being friends is all about and most of all, learning about first love.

I am so glad there are more books in this series because I want a closer look into all of those hot Onslow boys, who wouldn't after reading this? And I am going to do my best to get to them, way sooner than I did this one because these are the type of reads you need to just sit back and relax and have a good time with just the right amount of sass, fun, romance and hotness.

The Ghost Heart Kickstarter Is Here!

The PSS Chronicles is the acclaimed young adult paranormal thriller series written and self-published by award-winning author Ripley Patton.

If you're already familiar with the series, you know how great these books are. They are true paranormal thrillers and almost impossible to put down.

Ghost Hold quotes

Book One, GHOST HAND, was a semi-finalist for the 2013 Kindle Book Review Best Indie Book Awards and it was a 2013 Cybil Award Nominee. It has over 200 reviews on Amazon with a 4.4 overall rating.

GHOST HOLD has been just as well received with over 40 reviews, only one under 3-stars. Readers often comment that is is even more compelling than the first book.

And NOW, Ripley Patton is gearing up for the release of the third book in this series, GHOST HEART, by running a Kickstrater Project HERE.

All Ripley's books have been funded successfully through Kickstarter, which allows readers to pre-order the books in e-book and paperback format, in addition to ensuring she can publish them to the highest quality. Plus, its just fun to be a part of the amazing process of making a book a reality.

This time around, Ripley has something special going on. Backers of the project will actually be helping unveil the GHOST HEART cover, one piece at a time, as the funds for the book are raised. To whet your appetite, she's already let one little corner show here. Just a hint. Just a tease. The rest is up to you and all the backers of the GHOST HEART KICKSTARTER PROJECT. But I really hope it doesn't take too long because I'm dying to see that cover.

Review: Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones

Title: Fifth Grave Past the Light
Author: Darynda Jones
Series: Book Five in the Charley Davidson Series
Published By: St. Martin's Press (July 9, 2013)
Source: Purchased
Genre: Paranormal Romance
My Rating: 5 Stars!

Book Description:
Never underestimate the power of a woman on a double espresso with a mocha latte chaser high.
- T-shirt
Charley Davidson isn't your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper. She's more of a paranormal private eye/grim reaper extraordinaire. However, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. To further complicate matters, Reyes is her main suspect in an arson case. Charley has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth...but then dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason. When it becomes apparent that her own sister, Gemma is the serial killer's next target, Charley has no choice but to ask for Reyes's help. Arsonist or not, he's the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return. Charley. All of her, body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she is willing to pay.

This is so terrible but I really just want to start this review with this simply statement, “just pick up the dang books and read them because you won't regret it” kind of thing, because truly, you won't and truly these are just books that you have to experience for yourself.

No matter how much I want to try, I will never be able to convey the hotness of Reyes, the badness and the goodness of him or even how the man will make you feel when you read about him, I just can't, I wasn't gifted with that ability apparently. I don't have Jones' ability to suck you into my review and completely enthrall you.

Nor will I be able to express how completely in love I am with Charley and her ADDness and her craziness and her downright wonderfulness. Or with Cookie's willingness to hang right in there with Charley and sometimes even match her madness. Or with Uncle Bob's downright awesomeness (I want to kiss this man for the love and support he gives Charley!). Or Garrett's weirdness (which all makes a little more sense now after reading this), Angel, Quinton, Charley's dad, gosh, just everyone. There isn't a single character that isn't worthy of your love in this series, except for the bad guys. They get no love from me.

So much came to light in this latest installment. Each book we have been getting just a little bit more here and there about Charley's true nature and abilities and about Reyes and his and each time it just makes me crave more. I want to know everything but it is always done so very well that you don't even realize until the end of the book that, dang, it you wanted more. Instead you are just left feeling antsy and anxious for the next one, because again, dang it, you just want more.

Did I mention this one fet creepier than the others as well? The woman...yeah, they were creeping me out a little with their quiet bug like (poltergeist) activity (it will make sense after you read it I promise).

So much is always going on in these books between Charley's PI business, Charley and Reyes, the demons, ghosts and of course there is always some murderer out there on the loose but usually I can predict a lot of what will happen but, not this time. This time there was a ton I didn't see coming and I absolutely loved it. I relished it.

I knew I shouldn't have started this series until they were all out because now I am left feeling sad and disappointed that the next book isn't out.

It is going to be a really long wait until it is and I have a feeling I will have a really hard time picking up something next and being able to get into the story.

Darn Ms. Jones and her awesome writing abilities.

Review: Rebel by Amy Tintera

Title: Rebel
Author: Amy Tintera
Series: Book Two in the Reboot Series
Published By: HarperTeen (May 13, 2014)
Source: ARC Copy Provided by the Publisher (in exchange for an honest review)
Genre: YA Sci Fi/Fantasy/Dystopian
My Rating: 4.5 Stars!

Book Description:
The sequel to the action-packed Reboot is a can't-miss thrill ride, perfect for fans of James Patterson, Veronica Roth, and Marie Lu.

After coming back from death as Reboots and being trained by HARC as soldiers, Wren and Callum have finally escaped north, where they hope to find a life of freedom. But when they arrive at the Reboot Reservation, it isn't what they expected. Under the rule of a bloodthirsty leader, Micah, the Reboots are about to wage an all-out war on the humans. Although Wren's instincts are telling her to set off into the wilderness on their own and leave the battle far behind, Callum is unwilling to let his human family be murdered. When Micah commits the ultimate betrayal, the choice is made for them. But Micah has also made a fatal mistake . . . he's underestimated Wren and Callum.

The explosive finale to the Reboot duology is full of riveting action and steamy love scenes as Wren and Callum become rebels against their own kind.

With Reboot being one of my most surprising reads of last year, there is no way in heck I could have resisted picking up the sequel, I just wasn't capable of saying no to it.

Reboot blew me away with just how much I loved it and to say I have been looking forward to Rebel is a huge understatement.

I knew going into this one that it might not be an easy read. Wren and Callum are two very different people and I just knew they would have their issues and problems because of it but I was hoping like crazy that they would be able to hold things together and work through whatever might come their way. I really was hoping that love could and would conquer all.

So while yes, I was super excited to read this, I was also a little scared too. I didn’t want anything to happen to my star crossed lovers. I didn't want the contention that I knew was bound to happen or the fights that I just knew might be lurking around every corner to be. I knew there would be hard times but I was still hoping like heck things would work out, in other words, I was hoping for the best but expecting the worse.

Once again Tintera blew me away with Wren and Callum's story, their love and their adventures. Not only has Wren grown and changed in so many ways since the beginning of her journey but so has Callum.

And their love, their strength and their bravery..well, it is something else. Something fantastic and something great, something to be remembered.

This was packed full of surprises. Full of all the greatness I loved in Reboot, but magnified. The mission is far more dangerous and their circumstances more dire. The rebellion is getting more anxious and there are new enemies that they never saw coming and that they never expected.

In short, I loved this and it was the perfect conclusion to the series. It was believable and fast paced and felt real.
