Love Story by Jennifer Echols

Title: Love Story
Author: Jennifer Echols
Published By: MTV Books (June 19, 2011)
Genre: YA Chick Lit
My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Goodreads Description:
She's writing about him. he's writing about her. And everybody is reading between the lines..

For Erin Blackwell, majoring in creative writing at the New York City college of her dreams is more than a chance to fulfill her ambitions--it's her ticket away from the tragic memories that shadow her family's racehorse farm in Kentucky. But when she refuses to major in business and take over the farm herself someday, her grandmother gives Erin's college tuition and promised inheritance to their maddeningly handsome stable boy, Hunter Allen. Now Erin has to win an internship and work late nights at a coffee shop to make her own dreams a reality. She should despise Hunter . . . so why does he sneak into her thoughts as the hero of her latest writing assignment?

Then, on the day she's sharing that assignment with her class, Hunter walks in. He's joining her class. And after he reads about himself in her story, her private fantasies about him must be painfully clear. She only hopes to persuade him not to reveal her secret to everyone else. But Hunter devises his own creative revenge, writing sexy stories that drive the whole class wild with curiosity and fill Erin's heart with longing. Now she's not just imagining what might have been. She's writing a whole new ending for her romance with Hunter . . . except this story could come true.

My Review:
I have to say, I am really really surprised by all the 3 stars rating on this book, I thought it was awesome. I loved Hunter and Erin. And their story, well their story, was like no other.
I love how well they knew each other without really knowing each other.
I love their self discovery, their discovery of themselves and what they wanted in life and how they stood up for what they wanted. I love that Erin didn't let family or friends or money dictate who she was and I love that she was strong and secure in herself enough to know that she could do it on her own or at least go down fighting.
I love a strong female character but also one that is still soft enough to know and let love in.
While the ending made sense, I do wish it would have been a little longer. That we would have gotten just a little more of the glimpse into Erin's conversation with her grandmother and into the story that Hunter wrote about the universe and space. But overall I think this book was great and I look forward to reading more of Echols' work.

  1. I seriously cannot wait to read this book. It's like haunting me every time I see it---which is like almost every day. And from your review, it surely seems like a great chick lit/romance novel. I love Echols' writing. It's nothing new but somehow she manages to lure her readers in with some twist in her stories and lovable and swoon-worthy characters *coughDougcough* *coughAdamcough* Hehe. Is this your first Echols' book? If so, you should definitely read Forget You, The Boy Next Door (Part 1), and Endless Summer (Part 2). I'm planning to post up my reviews on those three sometime this week. So stop by my blog if you want:) Great and honest review!

  2. It was my first but it most definitely won't be my last. I really like her writing style and I agree, her male characters are awesome!

  3. Another awesome male character on the list is John from Going Too Far. This another good YA romance novel by Echols. Think of Matt Damon and Ben Bass (Rookie Blue), only blond and 19. Hehe.
