If there is one thing I have come to expect from Ms. Sorensen's work it is that I will get a beautiful story about two people that aren't just broken but are so heartbreakingly damaged that their story will make you cry and not just any cry but the bawl your eyes out ugly cry.

It will be a story about two people that are real. That are as perfect together as they are imperfect alone.

I don't know if I have ever met two more damaged people than I have in Violet and Luke. The prologue just about did me in. My heart was already breaking by that point, how in the world was I going to be able to read on?

But I did and their story was a beautiful one.  

We got glimpses of Violet and Luke through Callie and Kayden's story (yay for seeing them in this one!!) and at the time, even though I knew that both of them had stories that needed to be told, I had no idea they would be the stories that they were. I had no idea they would rip my heart out and stomp on it, but I should have know because, after all, Sorensen's stories are good for that. She is a fabulous storyteller, she sucks you in, gets you attached and then BAM! She grabs you in her clutches and makes you feel things for her characters that should only be possible with real people, in real life. 

Violet and Luke's stories are real, they are raw and they are honest. This story is one that isn't easy to read but well worth all those emotions it pours out of you. 


We know their story isn't over by the time the book is done, there is still more to tell, more to learn and so much more to experience but wow was this amazing. Like most of Sorensen's books, this is one that will stay with you long after the last page has been turned and the story over.

About the Author:

Ever since I can remember I loved telling stories. As I grew up, I started performing those stories on the stage. Creating vivid characters and singing wonderfully complex songs were my passion. I graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelors Degree in Vocal Performance and then continued onto DePaul University for my Masters Degree in Opera Performance. From there I went onto perform across the Chicagoland area in a variety of Operas, Operettas and Musicals. I also started teaching acting classes and private voice lessons to pass my passion along to the next generation.

Not exactly the path you’d expect a writer to take.

I’d never dreamed of writing a novel. But I loved to read. Then one day I had an idea and I started to write. I found my passion for creating characters lived on the page as well as the stage. It is my hope that the characters I’ve created resonate with you and make you smile.

I still teach voice lessons and sing for the occasional professional event. But the rest of my time is spent with my husband and son while dreaming up new and interesting stories. I hope that someday I hear yours.

I really liked the first book in the series The Testing and I just knew that I would be moving on to the next because honestly, I had high hopes for it. Yes it reminds me a little (read very little) of the Hunger Games, but more than that, it was an adrenaline, heart pounding, fun filled read. Where you never knew what was around the next corner, who could be trusted or what was going to happen next.

I am happy to say, the second book stood up to the first and was every bit as good if not better than it's predecessor.

Charbonneau has managed to create a dystopian world disguised as good but really very cruel and sinister under the seams. A world where rulers aren't always the bad guys and even worse, the teachers teaching the next generation are even worse than the “bad guys”. A government every bit as corrupt and disturbing as the one that caused the destruction in the first place.

I was really hoping that the world and government would be explained in more depth and detail than it was in the first book, and while not everything was answered, we do get a lot of answers for those pesky questions from the first book and even some for those that pop up in this one.

I once again loved Cia, how strong and how smart she is. How willing to trust even when everything screams in her not to because of what she has seen and heard from her time in the Testing and from what very little she really knows about the people and agency that surrounds her. 

There is so much corruption, so many secrets and so many unnecessary and cruel games that go on in the world that she lives in that I really can't even fathom it. What it must be like to live like she does. To see people die in front of her and to know that it is all in the name of the good of the land.

I was so glad to see Michal play a bigger role in this as well as some new, and every surprising allies and friends in the new group of students that join Cia in the dorms. Ian, Tomas, Will, Enzo, Stacia, Raffe, I really enjoyed all of them and not knowing who could be trusted and who was good or bad and who was just trying to survive. 


The plot definitely thickened with the way this one ended and while it wasn't a total cliffhanger, it was definitely a put you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next move, at least, it was for me and I, for one, will be awaiting the next chapter in the story.

Kristina Springer is one of those writers that you know when you pick up one of their books you are going to be transported back in time to when life was maybe simpler but maybe more complicated as well. What in the world am I talking about?

Why, high school of course!

I know when I pick up one of her books, I am going to get a really fun and light read that will make me smile and make me remember all those crazy (and fun!) times in high school. When social standing was everything. When friends were plenty but true friends were sometimes hard to come by. When that certain someone would finally look your way or talk to you in the hall and it made your whole day and you were grinning like an idiot for the rest of it. When boys came and went like it was nothing and what to wear the next day was the worst possible dilemma you had to think about.

Springer has a way of making all of that come back to life and make it fun again, make it nostalgic while still delivering a really fun and entertaining read that will be something perfect to cleanse your pallet after a long drawn out story or a series that never ends. They are exactly the kind of in between reads we all need on our book shelves.

This was such a sweet and cute story and a great look into what we are willing to share and to give up to be who we think we want to be, only to realize that sometimes, what is one the other side, isn't always greener or better. That what we have right in front of us and who we already are, is exactly who and where we should be.

As soon as I saw that Ms. Morrill had another book coming out I just knew I had to read it and it would be something that I wouldn't regret making time for. 

This was such a cute read about two girls learning to cope with life, learning about love, growing up and facing those tough things in life that we sometimes just wish we could sweep under the rug and forget about. 

Sloane Emily and Sloane Devon were both likeable characters with very different backgrounds but very similar issues not only in their family life but in the social/sports world as well. Both athletes on ice, albeit in a very different sport, and both trying to get away from something that they would rather forget about. Both girls grow throughout the story in more ways than one. They really learn who they are, what they want not only out of life but their families as well and both learn that even though we can ignore our problems, ignoring them doesn't make they going away. We can run but we can't hide.

While this isn't necessarily your typical coming of age story it could be somewhat predictably at times but that was okay, it worked and it never took anything from the story. While there was no mystery or intrigue about would happen, there were a lot of good moments watching the two girls come to terms with their life and most importantly grow as individuals along the way. 

I think this story would appeal to not only young adults but to tweens as well. It really was an enjoyable, cute read that I am glad I took the time for.

I have been a huge fan of Nyrae's work from the very first book I ever read from her and that holds true still. In fact, I think it is even more so now. She completely amazes me with her talent to create real, raw characters that are completely broken and making me not only care about them, but fall in love with them as well. Characters I feel, characters that seem real to me, characters that have become friends over the course of the trilogy.

Nyrae blows me away time and time again. Just when I don't think I could like another broken bad boy more, I meet a new characters and I am falling in love all over again.

Maddox was...wow. He was cold, abrupt and full of hard edges and yet he was pretty spectacular too and I knew that under all the hardness was a gooey center just waiting to come out. 

Unlike some of her other leading ladies, Bee too was all hard edges and abruptness but you know what? It totally worked because there is no way a sweet soft girl would have won Maddox over. He needed someone just like him. Someone lost and broken and someone that needed to be put back together. Someone that, when they put their pieces together, could make a whole.


This was emotional, raw and most of all, beautiful. Nyrae is a genius. She has a way with words, a way with characters, a way with everything that is just so heartfelt and real. She will continue to be on my auto buy list because I know when I pick up one of her novels, I will get one hell of a story. One that will rip my heart out and piece it all back together again.

It is no secret that I love this series, that I love Travis, so of course when I saw that we were (finally!) going to learn what happened in Vegas, I jumped at the chance to read it, I didn't even think twice about it.

And can I say that I loved this? I so missed Abby and Trav. I missed them terribly and didn’t even realize it until picking this up. I missed their crazy fierce love for one another. Their devotion, their struggles, their loyalty and their goodness.

I love that McGuire gave us this wonderful look into their wedding, the wedding night (wowza!) and of course, their one year anniversary. It reminded me all over again while I fell in love with the characters, the series and her writing. 


This is a must for any fan of McGuire's but most importantly, any fan of Abby and Travis.

If there is one character (or in this case characters) I have missed the most it would be Lady Julia and Brisbane. I adore this dynamic duo and have missed this series so very much, it is by far one of my favorites. It seamlessly combines all the genres I love best and puts it in one neat little package that is utterly hard to ignore and not love. 

Raybourn has a unique ability to combine genres so flawlessly that everything she writes is completely believable. Whether that be the paranormal aspect of this series or the hijinks that Lady Julia manages to get herself into time and time again. Whenever I open up a book in this series I know that I will be getting exactly what I want and need and have a smile on my face the whole way through. 

And oh how I have missed the loving gruffness that is Brisbane and the bossy cunning nature that is Julia. The craziness that is her family and the undeniable love between them all. 

I love watching Julia and Brisbane's relationship continue to grow and evolve. Each new chapter in their life together gets better and better as they both become more accustomed to their love for one another, their devotion, their loyalty and the life they are leading and blending. Brisbane is as busy as ever with new mysteries to solve and adventures and he is getting better at letting Julia help take part in solving them even if he is still that gruff alpha male we all have grown to know and love over the course of the series. 

Julia is still the meddling mischievous woman that gets herself into more trouble than naught even though her intentions are purely good and she has a heart of gold. She, like Brisbane loves fiercely and will protect whatever she sees fit too, which more often that naught, also gets her in trouble with Brisbane who wants nothing more than to lock her in an ivory tower and to keep her safe.


This was so well done and really did remind me all over again why I fell in love with this series to begin with and it left me longing for more adventures with Brisbane and Julia.

Believe it or not this is my very first Jus Accado book and what a way to be thrown into her work!

A hot bad boy with a demon tag a long and a steamy sexual tension filled read? Sign me up!

I loved Jax and all his snarkiness, he really was awesome. I have said this before and I will keep saying, I just can't resist those bad boys and Jax, is the ultimate bad boy. No, really, he is. Hello, the boy has a demon living inside him, can't get more “bad boy” than that right?

I am not a huge fan of books about angels and demons for the most part but I loved this read. It was different, it was fun and it had a whole lot of the sexual tension, snarkiness and a kick butt heroine in Sam that I demand in most of my reads, not to mention the hot bad boy with a heart of gold that is always an added bonus. Plus, Cain and Abel? Great plot line there and one that I haven't read about before so yeah, this one took me by surprise a little with just how much I enjoyed it and ate it up.

There is violence, action, death, destruction, good versus evil, betrayal, mystery, romance, paranormal stuff to keep my inner junkie happy and so much more. It really was just a little bit of everything but in a very good way. 


My only regret was the way it ended, not on a cliffhanger but certainly wide open for that sequel we all know is coming and that I, for one, will be picking up when it releases. I want more of Jax and Sam and to see where the author takes this series from here, it has a ton of potential to really stand out and be something great.

I am absolutely loving the Christmas novellas right now and the 12 NA's of Christmas is just perfect!!
I sadly haven't had a ton of time to read the past few weeks so these are perfect. Just the right amount of fun. Christmas spirit and of course romance.

When I saw that Tiffany was a part of the 12 NA's, I just knew I had to pick her's up because I just love her and her writing is always fabulous!

I loved Jamie and Grant. Their story was a sweet one filled with laugh out loud moments and sweet tender ones as well. This was the perfect read for a hopeless romantic like me and even though it is a novella it still had enough substance that I really felt like I got to know Grant and Jamie and to care about them.


I will definitely be picking up more books from this series. Tiffany has once again wowed me with her writing abilities and her talent of bringing characters to life and letting their stories shine.
