Hell is looking for a way to break loose…
Jax lost the genetic lottery. Descended from Cain, the world's first murderer, he's plagued by a curse that demands violence in exchange for his happiness. He left everything behind, including the girl he loved, but thriving on the pain of others is lonely… And it's killing him.
After a series of heartbreaking losses, Samantha put rubber to pavement and headed for college as fast as her clunker could carry her. But she can't outrun her problems. When an attack at school drives her back home, she's thrown into the path of a past—and a guy—she's been trying to forget.
Sam strains Jax's control over his darkness, but running isn't an option this time. Someone—or, something—followed her home from school: a ruthless monster with a twisted plan centuries in the making. Forced together to survive, and fighting an attraction that could destroy them both, Jax and Sam must stop a killer bent on revenge.
Believe it or not this is my very first Jus Accado book and what a way to be thrown into her work!
A hot bad boy with a demon tag a long and a steamy sexual tension filled read? Sign me up!
I loved Jax and all his snarkiness, he really was awesome. I have said this before and I will keep saying, I just can't resist those bad boys and Jax, is the ultimate bad boy. No, really, he is. Hello, the boy has a demon living inside him, can't get more “bad boy” than that right?
I am not a huge fan of books about angels and demons for the most part but I loved this read. It was different, it was fun and it had a whole lot of the sexual tension, snarkiness and a kick butt heroine in Sam that I demand in most of my reads, not to mention the hot bad boy with a heart of gold that is always an added bonus. Plus, Cain and Abel? Great plot line there and one that I haven't read about before so yeah, this one took me by surprise a little with just how much I enjoyed it and ate it up.
There is violence, action, death, destruction, good versus evil, betrayal, mystery, romance, paranormal stuff to keep my inner junkie happy and so much more. It really was just a little bit of everything but in a very good way.
My only regret was the way it ended, not on a cliffhanger but certainly wide open for that sequel we all know is coming and that I, for one, will be picking up when it releases. I want more of Jax and Sam and to see where the author takes this series from here, it has a ton of potential to really stand out and be something great.

Believe it or not I have never read a book by this author at all. I'm missing a lot, aren't I? Anyhow main character sounds really interesting and I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. Great review, Ali :)ReplyDelete
I really did enjoy her writing style, there was a lot of humor.ReplyDelete
I skimmed your review since I will be reading this later this week for a January review. I loved her Darker Days novel and am so excited that you loved this..it sounds so good!ReplyDelete
Yay I am glad you are reading it too Kim. I have to admit, I love the cover too for some reason, kind of dark and eye catching.ReplyDelete
YAY!!! I really loved this one too Ali, I'm right there with you with a bad boy who has a heart of gold. I was so glad we got the dual POV though, otherwise I might have really hated him. He could be hurtful when he wanted to be, but since we got to know why he was doing it, I just wanted to reach out and hug him. So good! Fantastic review:)ReplyDelete
I agree Jenny, the dual POV made a huge difference in this one!ReplyDelete
I haven't read any of her books yet but I have a lot on my WL because I've heard her characters are brilliant. This sounds EXACTLY like something I would love, on my WL it goes!ReplyDelete
I really wanted an ARC of this, but I didn't get one bummer! I read her YA book this summer and I really enjoyed it. I definitely want to check this out if I get the chance. Hope you have a wonderful holiday. I will catch up with you in 2014!ReplyDelete
I think you would like this Candace!ReplyDelete
You too Heidi!!
I have also never heard of this author, but dang...that book sounds AWESOME! What a great review!ReplyDelete
I wanted to take this one for review, but I had just too many to work it in. I have really enjoyed her Touched series. I think I'll wait for the sequel and them read them together. Great review.ReplyDelete
I am in the middle of reading this, trying to get into it. I am enjoying it so far, I hope it grabs me a bit more. I love the witty tone and Jax!ReplyDelete
Thanks everyone for stopping by!ReplyDelete
Sorry you couldn't get to this Ellen.
