Indie Book of the Week: Take Me Now by Faith Sullivan

I am so excited to be featuring this Indies Book of the Week to Faith Sullivan and her fantastic new release, Take Me Now.  I have to say, although I love the New Adult genre with a passion, it is also super nice to come across something in the genre that is completely refreshing and not so filled with despair, heartache and emotional turmoil. And while this is an emotional read, it is emotional in all the right ways.
I truly was blown away with how well this was written and presented. I can not wait for the second book to be out.
So, without going all fan girl crazy, I give you Take Me Now by Faith Sullivan.

Book Description:

How do you survive the internship from hell?

Don't fall in love.

Ivy thought being a reporter-in-training at the Independent Gazette would be her dream summer job. Little did she know, interviewing Eric, a landscaper with a heart of gold, would derail her plans. It turns out Ivy's boss, Lauren, has been eying his chiseled physique for quite some time.

But at twenty-four, Eric already has a tragic past, one that he is still reeling from. Even though his ordeal turned him into some sort of local celebrity, it's been a while since he's shared his bed with anyone. When he comes to Ivy's rescue out of the blue, it's not long before the two of them start seeing each other behind Lauren's back. When they get caught, Ivy's journey toward a college degree is jeopardized and her relationship with Eric is severely put to the test.

Career versus love? In the end, a shocking turn of events provides Ivy with a revelation she never saw coming.

About the Author:

Are you able to escape within my pages?
Does my writing make you feel something?

Random Things about Me

- I was so much smarter as a teenager.

- I am a slow reader.

- I tend to like a book more for its characters than its plot.

- I appreciate people who are genuinely kind and come through when you need them.

- It's true, creative people are not always fun to live with, but we keep things interesting.

- I miss the days when all I had was a rotary phone without even an answering machine.

- I'm a child of the 1980s, and a teenager of the 1990s.

- I love my dog.

- I love to travel and see new places - when my limited budget allows.

- I think in another lifetime I lived in the UK somewhere by the coast.

- When I feel an emotion, I feel it deeply. It's a curse.

- I have an overactive imagination. Writing helps alleviate that problem.

- Nine times out of ten, I believe a good book trumps reality hands down.

My Thoughts and Review:
There are some stories that are so easy to fall into and get completely wrapped up in, that before you know it the story is over and it feels like only minutes have passed instead of a few hours, this is one of those stories.

This is so well written and flows so nicely that I couldn't help but be drawn to it. I didn't want to put it down and in fact, I didn't put it down until the very last page was read.

I loved Eric from the moment that we meet him and my love for him just grew as his story was told and his thoughts and feelings were revealed. He was so passionate and so very heart broken over the loss of his fiance that it was hard not to feel for him and not to love him. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't perfect and he had 9and still has) a lot of crap to work through but he was there when it mattered and he wanted to move on, he wanted to move forward with his life and I had to give him credit for that.

Ivy was a pretty strong character. She isn't perfect either but she is good even though she ended up having some pretty craptastic people (and friends) in her life. I was so happy that she had Eric and really truly was rooting for them to get together and to make it work.

I love emotional reads like this one, awhile this wasn't a tear jerker or illicit any deep rotted anger in me, this was a great heartfelt read and only book one in a planned trilogy. And even though I know there is a rough road ahead for both Ivy and Eric, I for one, want to be there to see it all unfold.

Ms. Sullivan took me by surprise with how well written the characters were, how well their story was told and how easily I was wrapped up in the story. This didn't feel like the same ole same ole to me. It was fresh and new and something completely relatable.

I think I may have just found a new author to love and be on the look out for. Sullivan managed to tell a story that while the characters had their moments of stupidity and wrongness, they also had wonderful moments of clarity and redeeming qualities that couldn't be ignored and best of all, she brought it all together without all the angst and heartache so many of these book in this genre seem to have lately.

This is truly a stand out novel in the genre from a very talented story teller.
