Book Description:
When seventeen-year-old Sia wakes up on a park bench, she has no idea who or where she is. Yet after a week of being homeless, she’s reunited with her family. At school, she’s powerful and popular. At home, she’s wealthy beyond her dreams. But she quickly realizes her perfect life is a lie. Her family is falling apart and her friends are snobby, cruel and plastic. Worse yet, she discovers she was the cruelest one. Mortified by her past, she embarks on a journey of redemption and falls for Kyle, the “geek” she once tormented. Yet all the time she wonders if, when her memories return, she’ll become the bully she was before…and if she’ll lose Kyle.

My Thoughts and Review:

You might be wondering why I choose to showcase this book during the Something Wicked Tour and the answer is a simple one. Sia starts the book off with not knowing where she is or even who she is. With no identification on her and nothing else to go on other than the iPod she has in her possession with the name “Sia” on it, she is lost, confused and alone with no idea where to turn, who she is or why she is where she is.

What could be more horrifying than that? No memories, no idea of who the people are that you love, where you live or even if you are a good guy or a bad guy, this believe it or not, is one of my biggest fears.

If we woke up someone different would we like the same things we once did? Would our friends still be our friends and those we love, would they still be someone we would love? And would any of them like the new person we had become?

These are all questions and situations Sia faced as she became the person she never was. As she became someone kind and good and real.

I really liked this story. It was different and fun and had some pretty good messages in it as well. Could any of it ever really happen? Who knows and it really doesn't matter, because what matters most of that the author did a great job portraying the messages he wanted to get out there and hey, I have to give him credit for the fact that even though he is male, he did a wonderful job writing this in the female point of view of Sia.

This is a fun read about growing up, living up to your potential, treating others with respect no matter what situation in life they are in and learning  how to be giving and selfless.

  1. I agree, waking up with no memory of who you are would be absolutely terrifying! And then to find out you're basically a mean girl bully, that would be devastating. This sounds like an interesting book, and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. Lovely review!

  2. This definitely raises some interesting questions doesn't it? Very nature vs. nurture with her being a different person than she used to be which I think is always fascinating. And that cover is absolutely gorgeous. So simple and striking and I love the color. Thanks for putting this one on my radar Ali, lovely review!

  3. Oh, yeah, the idea of someone or something tampering with my brain is the most horrifying thing i the world. Same goes for memory loss.

  9. I love the cover of this book, I can't stop staring at it! *_* And you are totally right, losing yourself and not knowing who you are can be more scary than any paranormal ghastly creatures out there or post-apocalyptic scenarios. This sounds like a great read, thanks for the awesome review! :)
