Review: Marrow by Tarryn Fischer

Title: Marrow
Author: Tarryn Fischer
Series: Stand Alone
Published: April 18, 2015
Source: Purchased
Genre: Psychological/Mystery
My Rating: 4 Stars

Book Description:
In the Bone there is a house.

In the house there is a girl.

In the girl there is a darkness.

Margo is not like other girls. She lives in a derelict neighborhood called the Bone, in a cursed house, with her cursed mother, who hasn’t spoken to her in over two years. She lives her days feeling invisible. It’s not until she develops a friendship with her wheelchair-bound neighbor, Judah Grant, that things begin to change. When a neighborhood girl, seven-year-old Neveah Anthony, goes missing, Judah sets out to help Margo uncover what happened to her.

What Margo finds changes her, and with a new perspective on life, she’s determined to find evil and punish it–targeting rapists and child molesters, one by one.

But hunting evil is dangerous, and Margo risks losing everything, including her own soul.

Tarryn Fisher has become a go to author for me when I want something emotional, original, and unlike anything I can possible describe nor ever be able to dream up.

With her ability to create something controversy and put new spins and shed new light on it until they are almost unrecognizable and before you know it, you are rooting for it, good or bad, right or wrong.

That is exactly what she did with Marrow. She put the unthinkable and made it not only believable but someone heartbreaking in it's honesty. Before we know it, we are rooting for the anti-hero and all her revenge glory.

Justifying her wrongs in the name of rights.

Fisher once again gave us a psychological thriller with very little effort and a whole lot of emotion until we too are just as twisted up and sometimes even as confused and broken,  as the characters themselves.

  3. I read one book by Tarryn and I wasn't a fan. There was nothing wrong with the writing but she was a little too dark for my taste. Glad you enjoyed it though.

  11. I really can't wait to read more of her books. I love her Love Me With Lies trilogy. Sadly, I'm afraid to finish Never Never since I read that book three disappoints. I know I will since my OCD demands I finish since I read the first 2.

  15. I've seen this author's name around before, but I haven't read anything by her. It does take quite a writing to change the reader's mind about the anti-hero and for us to root for her.

  21. I am not familiar with the author. This is YA? It does sound kinda dark, which is sometimes good but sometimes not so good for me-depending on the subject matter. I am intrigued :)

    1. Not really YA more like a YA NA crossover since her age varies but mostly NA I think.
