Book Description:
Some guys are impossible to forget.

Rachel Daughtry has a 10-year plan that leaves no room for mistakes. Or not-so-serious boys—including Oliver Wentworth, the freshman boyfriend she's never forgotten. Now she's back in San Francisco with an awesome-slash-scary new job. Unfortunately, The Plan doesn't cover things like meeting her best friend's new “secret” guy...Oliver.

Fortunately, no one knows that Rachel and Oliver were ever together, and endless bikini wax torture couldn't make Rachel hurt her friend. But it's killing Rachel. She's not over him. Not even a little. And as her 10-year-plan crumbles around her, Rachel realizes that maybe—just maybe—Oliver feels the same way.

Now Rachel is on the verge of losing all control. And her best friend. And the love of her life...

Someday Maybe is a modern take on Jane Austen’s Persuasion that proves a second chance at true love is always worth the risk.

I absolutely adored London's modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice when she wrote Definitely, Maybe In Love so there was no way I was going to pass up the chance to not only get another dose of her great writing but also to get another modern twist of my second most favorite Austen's tale, Persuasion.

I so was not wrong to pick this up, I loved it from the very beginning and how could I not love Spring and Henry's cameo! Yay!

Oliver and Rachel were perfect, everything I would picture in a very modern Fredrick and Anne (love that those were their middle names!). In fact, I am going to go so far as to say that I liked this even more than the P&P retelling. It is by far my favorite Persuasion retelling to date. I loved everything about it.

You could see the insecurities, the heart break, the longing, the love, the resentment, the jealousy. So many emotions so beautifully thought out and displayed.

I completely devoured this in one sitting. I just couldn't get enough. And even though I knew how it would end, I was still biting my nails in anxiety hoping like heck it was a happy one.

Wonderfully done!

  1. Man, there are so many Persuasion retellings it's actually hard for me to keep track of them :P But your liking this one definitely makes it stand out from the rest and I'm really happy to see you give this high stars ^_^ I still need to read the original works though... retellings don't feel the same without knowing what it was based off!

  3. Oh a Persuasion retelling? I definitely want to read this, Ali. Persuasion is one of my favorites because of achingly beautiful it is, and it sounds like the book maintains that.
    Beautiful review! :)

  4. I really, really need to read Persuasion Ali! So many books are retellings of it or based on it in some way, and I think it'd make the stories all the more interesting to have read the original. Glad you were a fan of this, I love a one-sit read:)

    1. You definitely do or at least watch the BBC version of it since it is probably the most accurate. ;)

  10. Yup, this was a good one. I liked the first one better, because I love those types of relationships - the banter, and loathing ... that's more me. lol.

  13. I do have Definitely, Maybe on my Kindle and I tried reading it once when I was on a Lizzie Bennet Diaries high that I kept comparing the two so I put it down for now. I should really get back into it again seeing that everyone enjoyed the re-telling. And P&P. I swoon on everything P&P. I've actually never read Persuasion but I think I also have that on my kindle! This is looking out to be a great series! Lovely review Kindlemom! Oh, how I missed your blog <3

    2. Amir! Haha. Same problem I had, so hard to turn off the brain to stop from making comparisons. I liked this better than Lizzie Bennet actually. At least I haven't read Persuasion either so I'm looking forward to some classical education.

  15. I really like the cover for this one. I haven't read any Austen because I am a terrible reader when it comes to classics. This sounds good though, I'd probably pick this up before I read Persuasion, haha.

    1. This is way easier to read than Austen and still gives the story justice. ;)
