Book Description:
Lucy Sullivan finally belongs with the gifted Donovan Circus. Members are finding their rhythm, even the new folks from the Grayson Circus who joined after the last attack. Lucy feels like a trusted leader who can win the gifted battles and prevent humans from discovering their existence.

When tragedy strikes camp, a distraught Sheffield sends Lucy and her gifted team to hunt down the enemy – Alex, a Chameleon with a wicked ability for war. He’s out for blood and won’t stop until Lucy and her friends are dead.

This time, it won’t be Lucy’s gift that is tested – it will be her morality. To save her circus, the price will be greater than she ever expected. This time, she will lose someone she loves. And it will change everything.

It didn't take me long to remember why I fell in love with this fantastic fantasy series by Ms. Long.

It has a little bit of everything but most of all, I love its complete originality.

Once again we are thrown right back into the heart of it, days after the last big battle where once again, Lucy and her friends are fighting for their lives, their powers, and their family.

Lucy is someone who is very easy to relate to, to like, and to root for. She is determined, she is strong, and she is fierce, even more so in this latest installment. Things are changing, getting more dangerous and so Lucy must also change. No longer is she the timid girl confused about herself. She is turning into a fierce warrior who will do anything to protect those she loves and calls family.

The group as a whole is growing stronger, and things are getting darker. Alex and his miscreants are out for blood and they don't care who they take down in the process.

This was such a great read. I loved watching everyone, not just Lucy, change and grow. They really are a family and with that comes the ups and downs of any familiar relationship. This isn't a happy read by any means but it isn't all darkness either.

This was such a wonderful addition to the series, an exciting one full of action, change, loss, and a sweet romance that will all combined, keep you on your toes and turning the pages.

  3. I don't think I've read a book with a supernatural circus as the genre of the book before. Like Tanja says it certainly is original so I'll look forward to keeping my eye for this one. Great review! :)

  4. First of all, YAY FOR NA FANTASY!!! That alone makes me want to read this one:) I'm glad that despite all the darkness it's not overwhelming, I need there to be a few light moments sprinkled in! Lovely review my friend:)

  5. I took a double take when I saw NA fantasy! How rare is that?! This sounds really original though and a supernatural circus just sounds like a lot of fun! I'll have to look into this series.
    Lovely review, Ali!

  11. It's not to often we get a NA fantasy so that's exciting to see! This sounds like the series just keeps growing and getting better too. I'm trying to picture all the unique things that could happen with a setting like a circus and supernatural in the mix! Glad you enjoyed it.

Great review and Happy Friday! Ali :)

  12. I think it's very important, for a story to grow, for the characters to do so as well. Otherwise, I feel like it doesn't go forward but just round and round, in the same style, when actions and events must usually change a character or make him react. If you know what I'm saying :) If, for example, Alec stayed angry and jealous at Clary forever, for ''taking'' Jace away from him, that would have been super ridiculous and would make the story annoying. Omg, I don't even make sense right now. Soriiiii. Great review :)

  14. I am glad you were able to slip back in and enjoyed seeing growth in the characters. We don't see much of this genre in NA..so win-win.

  16. Sounds like a good series, I'm not sure about the circus thing though. I'm glad book three was still good and the heroine is now kicking butt. I love these kinds of unconventional families.
