Book Description:
New secrets, old flames, and hidden agendas are about to send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most outrageous adventure yet!

MISTAKE #1

Dickie Orr. Stephanie was married to him for about fifteen minutes before she caught him cheating on her with her arch-nemesis Joyce Barnhardt. Another fifteen minutes after that Stephanie filed for divorce, hoping to never see either one of them again.

MISTAKE #2

Doing favors for super bounty hunter Carlos Manoso (a.k.a. Ranger). Ranger needs her to meet with Dickie and find out if he's doing something shady. Turns out, he is. Turns out, he's also back to doing Joyce Barnhardt. And it turns out Ranger's favors always come with a price...

MISTAKE #3

Going completely nutso while doing the favor for Ranger, and trying to apply bodily injury to Dickie in front of the entire office. Now Dickie has disappeared and Stephanie is the natural suspect in his disappearance. Is Dickie dead? Can he be found? And can Stephanie Plum stay one step ahead in this new, dangerous game? Joe Morelli, the hottest cop in Trenton, NJ is also keeping Stephanie on her toes-and he may know more than he's saying about many things in Stephanie's life. It's a cat-and-mouse game for Stephanie Plum, where the ultimate prize might be her life.

With Janet Evanovich's flair for hilarious situations, breathtaking action, and unforgettable characters, LEAN MEAN THIRTEEN shows why no one can beat Evanovich for blockbuster entertainment.

It truly is hard not to fall in love with this series. It is so outrageous so chaotic, and so much darn fun.

With a cast of crazy laugh out loud lovable characters and danger and mayhem lurking around every corner, this series is my go to series when I need out of a book funk or just plain and simply need a good hearty laugh.

Stephanie has a way of getting herself into trouble regardless of the situation and why it is ridiculous, it also can't help being hilarious at the same time. And the best part is, she has a crazy cast of friends to help her through it all not to mention two hunky guys vying for her attention.

And while most books with a love triangle drive me crazy, this one some how seems to work for me and manages to add something to the series that probably wouldn't be the same without it.

Laughs, danger, great friends and co workers, and a mystery that is always fun, this is a series that anyone that loves to laugh and still get some depth, will enjoy.

  1. I read the first few books in this series, but never bothered to continue. It's too long for me to catch up on though now. That's really great that the book is still fun, mysterious and hilarious.
    Great review, Ali!

    1. I've heard that from a lot of people. I guess I will try to at least read until then. :)

  3. This is one of those humongous series, isn't it? It's like JD Robb's In Death series - there's no hope of me ever catching up. Sigh. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the books, Ali!

    1. Yes mostly humor. They definitely have to be taken lightly in a way even with the mystery aspect.

  4. It is outrageous and sometimes too much so. Its why I stopped reading it after 18 or 19, hmmm maybe its time to pick them up again. I bet they'd be a hoot on audible. Thanks for the great review Kindlemom on your rare escape from YA reads ;-) xo

  6. I binge read this series up to I think 15 and then I had to wait for the next one and now I've fallen behind! I agree this series is totally outrageous and chaotic, but it also makes me happy. I wouldn't mind if Ranger had a bigger role in all the books and ended up being the romantic winner, but I don't think that will be the case. Still, such fun books!

    1. Yes Jenny, I couldn't agree more! I would love to see that happen as well.

  7. I read a handful of these books back in high school. (I think I got to the fourth, maybe?) Then mom let a friend of her borrow, like, my whole series and I never saw them again. >.>

Needless to say, I kinda fell away from the series, seeing as I didn't have my copies. I remember them being a lot of fun, though! The humor and mystery aspect of the books are just so perfectly balanced. And I STILL can't decide between Morelli or Ranger. XD

  17. It's really a fun series but let me tell you it gets tired really quickly. Not to burst your bubble or anything I just have to be honest--says the girl with the next book on her TBR. I think I'm dedicated to the thing already. I can't seem to walk away.

  20. I've yet to try Stephanie Plum series. I know the later books are narrated by Lorelei King, who I love. If I try them, it would have to be on audio. Do you have to read in order, or could I pick up where King starts reading?

    1. I definitely think you need to read in order because of the relationships that develop over the course of the series.

  21. It's been years since I've read a Stephanie Plum book! I think I dropped the series around book 9 when I saw the love triangle starting up. I might have the series a re-read and maybe try reading past the 9th book.
